Fizzy drinks recalled over fears cans may suddenly explode The Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned the cans could pose an injury risk to customers - Bookmark - CommentsGo to comments Warnings have been issued over a high-end fizzy drink over fears its cans may “rupture unexpectedly” and risk injuring consumers. Food standards bosses said Dalston’s is recalling some batches of its pineapple soda after concerns that the cans may break apart unexpectedly and leave sharp edges. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) released a recall notice urging customers not to open the affected cans, and to instead bring them back to supermarkets. The low-calorie fizzy drink is sold in Waitrose and Asda. “A packaging defect means some cans may rupture unexpectedly, leaving sharp edges,” Dalston’s warned. “This may present a risk of injury. “If you have bought any of the above product do not try and open it. Do not return it to the store, instead, avoid any unnecessary handling of the product and safely dispose of it in an external waste bin.” The FSA said the recall applies to Dalston’s pineapple soda cans with the following batch codes: Dalston’s Pineapple Soda single cans Pack size: 330ml Batch code: 037130 Best before: 4 August 2027 Dalston’s Pineapple Soda multipack Pack size: Multipack 4x330ml Batch code: 037129 Best before: 4 August 2027 Dalston’s said the affected products can be returned to stores for a full refund, even if they no longer have a receipt. It added no other Dalston’s products or batch codes are affected. Join our commenting forum Join thought-provoking conversations, follow other Independent readers and see their replies Comments
