West Midlands Police said the death was being treated as "unexplained" and officers are carrying out enquiries to establish the cause. A resident told Birmingham Live: "He was a lovely old man, who would speak to everyone. We saw the private ambulance outside his house. It's so sad." A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We were called at just after 11.15am today (Mon), to reports of a man’s body at a property in Roundlea Road, Birmingham. The death is currently being as treated as unexplained, and we are carrying out further enquiries." A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: "We were called to an incident at an address near to Lockwood Lane in Northfield, Birmingham, at 11.12am. "We sent an ambulance and a Community First Responder to the scene. On arrival, crews found a man. Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
