Doctor says you should buy tinned beans and pickled beetroot in June They will come in handy after June 10 and could help with a speedy recovery With festival season here and millions of people taking part, research has found post-festival fatigue cures people swear by, and a doctor explaining what really works. People say they’ve tried aromatherapy, essential oils, raw eggs and crystals to recover after a festival But Dr Amos Ogunkoya told Just Eat there are science-backed solutions to recover more effectively. Half of all festival-goers say they've never felt worse than the day after their return - and the average festival recovery time is two days. And Dr Amos said the best recovery aid is a tin of baked beans. According to Dr Amos, the high-fibre, plant protein-rich nature of baked beans helps with slow energy release, which combats fatigue, and supports gut health - perfect for getting nutrition back on track after days of inconsistent eating patterns. Another unexpected addition is pickled beetroot, with Dr Amos citing this as an essential recovery solution. As well as being packed with vitamins and minerals, the fermentation process behind pickling produces probiotics to help boost the immune system and gut health recovery. Sipping the pickling juice itself can reduce fatigue and support endurance. Other recovery hacks include Lemon & Ginger Tea - a secret weapon in combatting feelings of nausea post-festival, DioraHydrate Effervescent Tablets to help replenish lost electrolytes after heat exposure and Back & Muscle Pain Relief Gel - an essential after trekking around with heavy rucksacks and sleeping on uneven campsite ground. Dr Ogunkoya said: “After festivals, our bodies need a lot of conscious recovery, repair, and TLC. It’s all about prioritising self-care after days of late nights, too much sun, and non-stop socialising, but many of us struggle to find solutions that actually stick." Festival season in the UK kicks off in earnest this month, including: - Download Festival (10 – 14 June) Donington Park, Leicestershire - Isle of Wight Festival (18 – 21 June) Seaclose Park, Newport - TRNSMT (19 – 21 June) Glasgow Green, Scotland - Parklife (20 – 21 June) Heaton Park, Manchester - State Fayre (24 – 28 June) Hylands Park, Chelmsford - BST Hyde Park (late June through mid-July) Hyde Park, London - Love Supreme Jazz Festival (3 – 5 July) Glynde Place, East Sussex - 2000trees (8 – 11 July) Upcote Farm, the Cotswolds - Splendour Festival (18 – 19 July) Wollaton Hall, Nottingham - Latitude Festival (23 – 26 July) Henham Park, Suffolk. - Truck Festival (23 – 26 July) Hill Farm, Oxfordshire - Camp Bestival (30 July – 2 August) Lulworth Castle, Dorset
