Four men charged after drive-by slingshot attacks on strangers across Brisbane Thu 11 Jun 2026 at 6:33am Police have charged four men after a series of alleged drive-by attacks using handmade slingshots on members of the public across Brisbane's western suburbs. It is alleged that the group used the slingshots to fire metal objects at people from a vehicle on multiple nights between May 27 and May 31. Police said a 22-year-old woman was struck on the forehead and a 36-year-old woman was struck on the hand in separate attacks in Paddington and Toowong on May 27. On the evening of May 31, a 53-year-old man was allegedly struck in the back, and a 64-year-old woman was struck in the jaw in Toowong and St Lucia. Police intercepted a Hyundai i30 at Chapel Hill just after 11pm on the same night and allegedly found two handmade slingshots, two pocket-shot style devices and a set of knuckle dusters. Loading...Two men were detained at the scene. After a search at two addresses in Redbank Plains and Forest Lake, police allegedly located property related to the assaults as well as a quantity of cannabis and drug utensils. Three 19-year-old men and one 20-year-old man have been charged with a range of offences, including assault occasioning bodily harm, serious assault of a person over 60, common assault and discharging a weapon in a public place. A 19-year-old Redbank Plains man was remanded in custody, while the three other men were granted bail. All four will face the Brisbane Magistrates Court later this month. Investigations into the incidents are ongoing, and police have appealed to anyone who may have been struck by an object thrown from a vehicle in the Paddington, Toowong, St Lucia, or Chapel Hill areas to get in touch.
