NEW DELHI: Mocking Prime Minister
Narendra Modi’s claim of becoming the longest serving PM, Congress on Wednesday termed PM Modi a “millstone around India’s neck, presiding over the murder of democracy”.
AICC spokesman Jairam Ramesh likened the achievements of
Jawaharlal Nehru and PM Modi, to say that PM Modi has “a pathological fixation on Nehru” and wants to erase his legacy. Ramesh said under PM Modi, EC and a voter list are under threat, while scientific temper has been erased through the “destruction of educational institutions”.
Sharad Pawar said an impression is being created that there is no leader of his stature. “Nehru’s contribution to nation building and freedom struggle cannot be forgotten and has to be respected. He cannot be compared with anyone else. Nehru spent several years in jail during the freedom struggle under leadership of Mahatma Gandhi,” he said.
