England recover World Cup gear after Harry Kane's boots and training kit stolen Police said two suspects have been taken into custody as the FA looked for new kit ahead of the first training session at England's World Cup training HQ in Missouri Several items of England's training kit have reportedly been recovered after items including Harry Kane's boots were allegedly stolen. US police were hunting for Harry Kane's boots today after England's kit disappeared en route to their US World Cup training HQ. The incident left our talismanic captain without his shooting boots and manager Thomas Tuchel without his tactical smartboard. Police said two suspects have been taken into custody as the FA was forced to look for new kit ahead of our first training session at the Swope Soccer Village HQ in Missouri. It is believed hot shot Harry's boots, as well as Jude Bellingham's, along with balls and vital training kit were taken but sources told The Athletic the missing items have now been recovered. Kane was seen wearing a pair of red, white and blue Nike boots at an England training session in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida as he pointed to the pitch, just four days ago. He was wearing the same pair in the 3-0 victory over Costa Rica on Wednesday. Only one ball remained after the incident which happened somewhere on the 1,238-mile, 20-hour road trip from England’s pre-tournament base camp in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Kansas. Kansas City police have arrested two suspects. A force spokesman said: “We are investigating a possible theft of equipment from a team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City with items missing. Two subjects of interest were taken into custody pending further investigation. The investigation is ongoing.” The FA was liaising with police to assist the investigation. Kane has been in fantastic form, scoring 61 goals in 51 games for Bayern Munich this season, and eight in eight appearances for England, totalling 69 in all competitions; he has hit an incredible 143 goals in 146 appearances for the German club. The stolen balls were official World Cup tournament editions. England staff had packed up the squad’s training gear after their tournament warm-up in Florida which featured friendly victories over New Zealand, Costa Rica and local team Miami United. It included analysis equipment, Tuchel’s whiteboards and massage tables. The heist was a hammer blow to the Three Lions’ tournament preparations. England were flying to their World Cup base today as the tournament build-up began in earnest. A worker at the Slope Sports complex said they had been working 'for months' to get the pitch ready and staff had been asked to leave to make way for the England team. "The pitch was being prepared before we even knew England were coming," he told the Mirror. "They worked for three months to get the surface right. "We've all had to leave to make way for you guys." Security was in place days ahead of the team's arrival, with the Mirror approached and asked not to take pictures on the grounds. England's 26-man squad and backroom staff were boarding a private jet in Orlando, Florida and were scheduled to arrive at the Wheeler Field airport in Kansas City around 1pm local time, 7pm UK time. They enjoyed a night out with wives, girlfriends and family members last night. Kane, Jordan Pickford, John Stones and Elliot Anderson all played golf with Brooks Koepka during their downtime. Kane is believed to have organised the round. Tuchel described the switch to their World Cup HQ as "going into the tunnel" when "the tension will rise". Or as young midfielder Morgan Rogers put it: "It's show time." Both Rogers and his close friend and team mate Jude Bellingham spoke of the team spirit and camaraderie as the Three Lions bid to end 60 years of hurt with a second World Cup trophy. Tuchel stressed that his ambition was to add a second star to the England shirt when he took over. His young side was set for a warm reception in Kansas, where ex-pats and Americans were ready to welcome them. Aston Villa star Morgan, 23, described the move to Kansas City as a "mental shift" after the two friendlies. Hundreds of residents living near the England team hotel, the Inn at Meadowbrook, put out Union flags to welcome the team. Judi and Elvin Knight, who live in a stunning mansion right next to the hotel, had the Union flags out ready. They are supporting both England and Scotland at the tournament Judi, a proud mum-of-two and grandma, wore the England shirt she was given for Mother's Day. But she told the Mirror: "We wanted a shirt to welcome England and a local designer made one. They have sold 242 shirts and hundreds of residents here have put out flags for England. But we will be supporting Scotland too. Our daughter is married to a Scotsman so we will be cheering them on too." She added: "We are so excited to have England here. It is great that they chose to come here, out of all the places that they could have chosen in the US. They will get a really warm welcome." Scotland's first game in the World Cup finals for almost 30 years takes place in the early hours of Sunday. The match against Haiti kicks off in Boston at 2am UK time, meaning it will probably be almost four in the morning by the time millions of fans back home know whether Scotland have secured victory. Pubs, clubs and fan zones have been given special licences to open and serve alcohol during the night. A host of celebrity Scotland fans gathered in Scotland House in Boston ahead of the game, including Martin Compston, Gerard Butler and Clare Grogan. Pop star and actor Grogan said she was 'super excited' before the game. “I think when they put their minds to it they are unstoppable,” she said.
