Data from flight tracking app FlightRadar24 shows the plane traveling north at around 23,000ft over the Irish Sea near Stranraer at the time, the Daily Record reports.
It continued north over Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire towards Glasgow Airport where it landed safely shortly after 3.40pm. The airline said the alert had been triggered due to a customer in need of medical help.
A Jet2 spokesman said: “Our crew followed procedure and requested a priority landing due to a customer requiring medical attention.”
Emergency response squawking 7700 means a general emergency has been declared. It can cover a range of scenarios including a technical or medical emergency.
