New ECMWF forecast charts show high pressure developing across much of the UK by June 15, delivering largely calm conditions and sunshine to many areas. Typically, the mercury rarely exceeds 20C in early June in the UK. However, high pressure lingers outside the UK, having just sent the mercury rocketing in May. Britain logged its hottest-ever day in May, with 35.1C recorded in Kew Gardens, southwest London. June is likely to follow a similar pattern, meteorologists understand. The newest maps for June suggest the mildest air will be focused across the South East of England, East Anglia and parts of the Midlands, while Scotland and Northern Ireland remain only a few degrees cooler. WXCharts temperature projections reveal widespread highs of 22C to 24C extending from the Midlands through eastern England. Some spots in the South East of England, including Greater London, could reach 25C or 26C, making them the warmest parts of the country. The Met Office's mid-range forecast reads: "Higher pressure and more settled conditions may begin to become more prevalent, especially in the south." Multiple locations across these counties are forecast to hit 24C to 26C, with no or little rain forecast for many parts, reports the Express. 14 warmest counties - see fulll list Kent Essex Suffolk Norfolk Cambridgeshire Hertfordshire Bedfordshire Buckinghamshire Berkshire Surrey East Sussex West Sussex Hampshire Oxfordshire
