Ableton is letting musicians build browser-style extensions for Live
Ableton Ableton already has Max for Live, which allows users to build MIDI effects, synths, and samplers for its digital audio workstation (DAW). But now with its Extensions SDK, features can be added to Ableton Live with common JavaScript. Where Max is largely limited to MIDI and audio processing, Extensions can touch almost any part of the DAW simply by right-clicking within your Live set.
Ableton Extensions SDK
Ableton Extensions, introduced in Live 12.4.5, provide a way for users to develop and use their own tools within Ableton Live using the Ableton Extensions SDK. Extensions can interact with tracks, clips, MIDI, devices, tempo, and other parts of a Live Set to automate tasks, transform musical data, and customize Live’s capabilities.
Universal Audio Volt 876 USB Audio Interface Review: Pro-Level Polish
In the fall of 2006, I decided emo was out and IDM was in. Fueled by the hope of becoming the next Four Tet or Aphex Twin, I marched into my local Guitar Center and purchased an audio interface to convert my guitar and vocals into ones and zeroes, then mangle them in Ableton Live. When I got home, I plugged a brand-new M-Audio Fast Track Pro into my Windows desktop and immediately hit a brick wall of audio driver configuration hell.
A Minimalist Brain-Computer Musical Interface for Real-Time Emotion-Driven Sonification: System Design and Preliminary Evaluation
arXiv:2606.01473v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This paper presents a minimalist brain-computer Musical Interface (BCMI) that functions as a real-time affective sonification system, translating prefrontal EEG activity into adaptive music. Emotional valence is estimated from frontal alpha asymmetry (AF7/AF8) and mapped to musical features such as mode, tempo, rhythmic density, and pitch register through a stochastic generative algorithm. The system integrates wireless EEG acquisition,...
Ask HN: What are tools you have made for yourself since the advent of AI?
I've made a number of ceramic molds for slumping fused glass into bowls. As well as wooden templates for ceramic mugs. I've devised a few carrying tools to move glass frit paintings from my studio down to my barn where the kilns sit without spilling the glass.
Brume is a 24-voice multi-timbral desktop synth for the CM5
FM Six operators across twelve algorithm topologies, per-op ratio and level, global feedback, a per-voice FM-index envelope, and a voice-tail state-variable filter with its own envelope — DX-style FM with subtractive shaping on the way out. A desktop multi-timbral music machine with four synthesis engines, a 10″ touch surface, and one cable to your DAW. Brume runs four synthesis engines with a shared voice tail (state-variable filter, amp envelope, modulation router), so patches stay...
