Probabilistic Data-Driven Modelling of Astrophysical Transients: The Neural Process Family for Ultrafast and Class-Agnostic Light Curve Reconstruction with NightLANP
Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Astrophysical observations from Earth are subject to weather, environmental, and scientific constraints that lead to sparse, irregular light curves. On the eve of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time, its dataset offers unprecedented opportunities for transient science. Yet a key challenge remains its cadence, sparse and irregular across six bands, limiting inference.
Revisiting Neural Processes via Fourier Transform and Volterra Series
arXiv:2606.01172v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Modeling unknown latent functions from finite, irregularly sampled measurements is a recurring challenge across science and engineering. Neural processes (NPs), a family of probabilistic functional models, are promising solutions -- especially when endowed with domain-specific symmetries like translation equivariance, which improve sample efficiency and generalization. Yet existing translation-equivariant NPs face two limitations: (i) they...
Asymmetric neural dynamics of visuospatial attention in autism spectrum disorder
Background: Selective attention enables the prioritization of behaviorally relevant information in complex sensory environments. Despite substantial evidence for altered attention in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying these differences remain poorly understood. Here, we integrate high-density electroencephalography (EEG), pupillometry, and behavioral measures collected during a cued covert visuospatial selective attention task to characterize...
Mesoscopic cortical activities associated with pupil-linked perceptions inferred via explainable machine learning
Pupil dilation reflects arousal-related neural processes and is closely linked to sensory perception, attention, and cognitive state, but the mesoscopic cortical dynamics that accompany stimulus-evoked dilation remain unclear. Here, we combined simultaneous pupillometry and wide-field Ca2+imaging in mice with explainable machine learning to identify cortical activity patterns predictive of pupil dilation. Cortical activity was recorded during hindpaw somatosensory stimulation, visual pattern...
Intrinsic Population Dynamics are a Neuronal Substrate for Visual Attention
Perception results from a dynamic interplay between the feedforward processing of sensory stimuli and intrinsic neural activity, which is often dismissed as noise. To tailor perceptual processes to the organism's current needs on a continuous, moment-to-moment basis, intrinsic dynamics - rather than just being noise - have been suggested to reflect prior expectations, task demands, and attentional focus. Here, we identify a novel signature of attentive state in which intrinsic, collective...
Data Efficient Complex Feature Fusion Network For Hyperspectral Image Classification
arXiv:2606.04710v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This work presents a data-efficient variant of the Attention-Based Dual-Branch Complex Feature Fusion Network (CFFN) for hyperspectral image classification. The proposed model, termed DE-CFFN, retains the original two-stream structure: the Real-Valued Neural Network (RVNN) processes standard hyperspectral patches, while the Complex-Valued Neural Network (CVNN) handles their Fourier-transformed counterparts.
Efficient and accurate neural-field reconstruction using resistive memory
Abstract Applications such as medical imaging, augmented and virtual reality, and embodied artificial intelligence (AI) depend on the ability to reconstruct complex signals from sparse observations. These applications are characterized by incomplete measurements and limited computational resources. Traditional approaches to digital hardware face the following challenges: explicit signal representations require heavy sampling and storage, data movement across the von Neumann bottleneck...
Closed-loop neurofeedback reshapes preparatory brain states to bias subsequent pain processing
Pain perception is strongly influenced by neural states preceding stimulus onset, yet whether such preparatory states can be causally reshaped remains unclear. Using a double-blind design, we tested whether closed-loop neurofeedback can reconfigure preparatory brain dynamics to influence subsequent pain processing. Real, but not sham, feedback enabled learning-dependent enhancement of pre-stimulus oscillations in primary somatosensory cortex and their trans-hemispheric propagation.
CFRNet: Cycle-Consistent Fixed-Point Training for Real-Time Blind Face Restoration on Consumer Embedded NPUs
arXiv:2606.06850v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Blind face restoration on consumer devices has to balance image quality against speed and memory. Strong methods such as GFPGAN and CodeFormer give good perceptual quality, but they rely on large pretrained generative priors and on operators such as attention, codebook lookup, and style modulation that are hard to compile and quantize on the small neural processing units (NPUs) used in consumer hardware. Small convolutional restorers run fast...
Semimage: HSV-Based Semantic Image Encoding for Disentangled Text Representation
arXiv:2512.00088v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: We propose SemImage, a novel method for representing a text document as a two-dimensional semantic image to be processed by convolutional neural networks (CNNs). In a SemImage, each word is represented as a pixel in a 2D image: rows correspond to sentences and an additional boundary row is inserted between sentences to mark semantic transitions. Each pixel is not a typical RGB value but a vector in a disentangled HSV color space, encoding...
