Sister of murdered MP Jo Cox warns forces of division 'even stronger' a decade on

Sister of murdered MP Jo Cox warns forces of division 'even stronger' a decade on Labour MP Kim Leadbeater said the EU referendum campaign was 'one of the most divisive periods' in modern history, and urged the public to reject surging polarisation The sister of MP Jo Cox has warned the dark forces of division could be stronger than ever a decade on from her murder. Kim Leadbeater said the EU referendum campaign was “one of the most divisive periods” in modern history, where fear was...

From Hazard Functions to Language Space: Cox-Supervised Distillation of Survival Risk into a Large Language Model

new Abstract: We investigate whether information about time-to-event risk estimated by a Cox proportional hazards model can be transferred into a generative large language model. We propose a text-based survival modelling pipeline in which structured clinical covariates are converted into text prompts and a Qwen-based large language model is fine-tuned to generate patient-specific survival risk using Cox model predictions as a training target. Across GBSG2, ACTG320, and WHAS500, the model...

MEC-Cox: Machine-Learning-Assisted Generalized Entropy Calibration for ATT Marginal Hazard-Ratio Estimation

arXiv:2606.08305v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Externally controlled survival trials are increasingly used when concurrent randomized controls are infeasible, particularly in oncology and rare-disease settings with time-to-event endpoints. We target an average-treatment-effect-on-the-treated (ATT)-type marginal hazard-ratio estimand, comparing treatment with counterfactual control in the treated trial population, and estimate it using inverse-probability-weighted (IPW) Cox regression....

A Spherical Stochastic Geometry Framework for Patrol-Based HAPs Network: Coverage and Energy Efficiency Analysis

arXiv:2606.06307v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This paper develops a stochastic-geometry framework for high-altitude platform station (HAPs) networks in which platforms execute cyclic patrol trajectories anchored to designated service regions. We introduce two small-circle ring Cox process models on the spherical Earth. In the small-circle ring Poisson Cox process (SCR-PCP), platforms form one-dimensional Poisson point processes on localized patrol rings, whereas in the small-circle ring...

Copper transport to mitochondria by SLC25A3 contributes to skeletal myoblast differentiation and is required for survival of differentiated myotubes

Differentiation of skeletal muscle is associated with increased mitochondrial biogenesis and reliance of oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS). The terminal enzyme complex in the electron transport chain, cytochrome c oxidase (COX), requires copper for its assembly and activity, and copper delivery to mitochondria is essential for OXPHOS. However, when mitochondrial copper becomes essential during skeletal myoblast differentiation is not known.

When does Nigel Farage 'speak for the nation'? When it suits him | Marina Hyde

Compare his response, or lack of, to three murders over the past decade – Jo Cox, Sarah Everard and Henry NowakWhich murder victim’s ambulance does the would-be statesman chase? Can you be said to “speak for England” if there are other times you wimp out on speaking at all, either out of self-preservation or moral smallness, or just not actually giving much of a toss? The questions arise after Nigel Farage moved himself into pole position with an explicitly incendiary speech in the wake of...

Sticky CIR process with potential: invariant measure and exact sampling

Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: We study the sticky Cox-Ingersoll-Ross (CIR) process in one dimension, a diffusion on $[0,\infty)$ with a sticky boundary condition at the origin, arising as the marginal process in a sparse Bayesian inference framework based on Hadamard-Langevin dynamics. For the parameter range $\delta\in(1,2)$, in which the origin is accessible but not absorbing, we prove well-posedness of the process and uniqueness of its invariant measure, which is a mixture of a...

Rivian is betting on its R2 EV to turn the automaker into a household name like Tesla

PARK CITY, Utah — Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe is energetic as he makes his way through displays for the electric vehicle maker's new R2 SUV. The company founder moves quickly from the EV's suspension and software systems to different models of the R2 that will soon begin to reach American consumers, including a roughly $45,000 entry-level model that Rivian said Tuesday is being pulled ahead from late 2027 to next summer. But there's an anxiousness in Scaringe's voice as he talks to employees and...
