AirPods are getting a customizable EQ in iOS 27
AirPods are getting a customizable EQ in iOS 27 Users will be able to adjust highs, mids and lows in the AirPods settings. Even though WWDC is a primarily software-focused event, many of the updates discussed there have a direct impact on Apple's hardware. The company occasionally discusses upcoming audio features for AirPods at the developer's conference, and thankfully, a new tool was on the agenda for today.

Sensor Quality Control and Annealing Studies of HGCAL Silicon Sensors
arXiv:2606.07278v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: We summarise Sensor Quality Control (SQC) results of non-irradiated silicon sensors for the CMS HGCAL detector, as well as the first detailed annealing campaign with a wafer-scale 120\,\textmu m (Epitaxial) sensor exposed to \(2\times10^{15}\)\,\si{n_{eq}/cm^2} at the Rhode Island Nuclear Science Center (RINSC). For the non-irradiated sensors, we present an overview of the QC workflow developed for HGCAL, including automated handling of vendor...

Bhutan experiences 5.8-magnitude earthquake; tremors felt in parts of Northeast India
A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Bhutan late on Sunday night, triggering multiple aftershocks and sending tremors across parts of Northeast India, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake occurred at 11.06pm IST at a depth of 26km, with its epicentre located in Bhutan. The epicentre was about 252km from parts of Assam, and tremors were felt in several areas across India's northeastern region following the quake.
Logarithmic Sobolev inequality and hypercontractivity for the Navier-Stokes Fokker-Planck operator
Announce Type: cross Abstract: The stochastic incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on $\TT^3$, completed by the fluctuation-dissipation noise, have a Fokker-Planck generator that decomposes into a self-adjoint Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (dissipative) part and an antisymmetric (convective) part. We prove two results about this generator. First, the logarithmic Sobolev inequality holds with the same optimal constant as the pure Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operator, $c_\mathrm{LSI} = \nu\lambda_1$ (where...
The Top New Features in Apple’s iOS 27 and iPadOS 27
While the news coming out of WWDC 2026 is not as dramatic as last year's iOS 26 update, where the new Liquid Glass redesign caused a big stir, Apple’s presentation still made waves. During the WWDC keynote, Apple walked through the new changes coming to the next version of its mobile operating systems, iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. These updates will roll out to iPhones and iPads later this year, likely in September.
