Breaking Time: A Fully Gaussian Framework for Distributed and Continuous-Time SLAM

arXiv:2606.06250v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Continuous-time SLAM provides a principled framework for fusing heterogeneous sensors while estimating smooth trajectories, and is particularly well-suited for handling heterogeneous, asynchronous sensor streams with non-uniform readout patterns, such as rolling shutter cameras, LiDAR scanners, radar sweeps, or event-based sensors. In this work, we introduce G-solver, a fully Gaussian and distributed framework that combines Gaussian Belief...

PixVOD: Pixel-Distributed Direct Visual Odometry and Depth Estimation

arXiv:2606.03989v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Images composed of 2D pixel arrays are the standard input to computer vision algorithms, yet many underlying computations can be distributed across pixels. Transmitting raw, redundant, and noisy pixel data off the sensor remains inefficient, motivating a shift toward focal-plane sensor-processors that perform a significant part of the computation directly within each pixel.

Expanded implementation of Fast & Fair paid peer review reduces time to first decision without reducing review quality in a biology journal

Traditional peer review is often slowed by delays in identifying willing reviewers and waiting for completed review reports. In a 2024 pilot on the journal Biology Open, we showed that Fast & Fair peer review, which uses pre-contracted paid reviewers and a structured editorial timeline, could deliver rapid, high-quality peer. Here, we report the expanded implementation of Fast & Fair at Biology Open in 2025.
