All-Electron Relativistic Fully Self-Consistent $GW$ Study of Heteronuclear Actinide-Containing Diatomics
arXiv:2605.31571v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: The fully self-consistent $GW$ (sc$GW$) approximation provides a Green's-function approach that is starting-point independent and offers a favorable cost-to-accuracy balance compared to high-level wavefunction methods. Here, we present an all-electron sc$GW$ study of uranium-containing diatomics (UC, UN, UO, and UF), incorporating relativistic effects through the exact two-component (X2C) formalism. We evaluate adiabatic ionization energies as...
An Algebraic-Diagrammatic Construction for Vertex Corrections to the $GW$ Self-Energy
new Abstract: The $G3W2$ approximation -- the second-order self-energy beyond $GW$ -- is known to violate some fundamental analytic properties of the self-energy. In particular, its lack of positive semi-definiteness leads to unphysical features such as negative spectral functions. In this work, we reformulate the $G3W2$ approximation within the algebraic-diagrammatic construction (ADC) framework.
Connection between $GW$ and Extended Coupled Cluster
arXiv:2602.10887v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Coupled-cluster (CC) theory and Green's function many-body perturbation theory (MBPT) have long evolved as distinct yet complementary frameworks for describing electronic correlation. While CC methods employ exponential wavefunction parametrizations that guarantee size extensivity and systematic improvability, Green's function approaches such as the $GW$ approximation describe quasiparticle and optical excitations through diagrammatic...
Optical excitations in nanographenes from the Bethe-Salpeter equation and time-dependent density functional theory: absorption spectra and spatial descriptors
arXiv:2510.25658v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: The GW plus Bethe-Salpeter equation (GW-BSE) formalism is a well-established approach for calculating excitation energies and optical spectra of molecules, nanostructures, and crystalline materials. We implement GW-BSE in the CP2K code and validate the implementation for a standard organic molecular test set, obtaining excellent agreement with reference data, with a mean absolute error in excitation energies below 3 meV. We then study...
Keeping the lights on: How India manages its power demand
On May 21, India's power grid hit a number it had never seen before. Demand crossed 270 gigawatts, peaking at 270.73 GW. To put that in context, the entire installed power capacity of the United Kingdom is roughly 80 GW.
'Creating thousands of high-skilled jobs': SoftBank to invest €75bn in French AI data centres
The project is SoftBank Group's largest AI infrastructure investment in Europe. Once completed, its planned 5 GW capacity would make it Europe's largest data centre project as the region seeks to expand AI infrastructure and compete with the US and Asia. Japanese technology investment group SoftBank announced plans to develop and operate 5 GW of AI data centre capacity in France, in an investment worth €75 billion.
A €100 billion queue: Why Europeans are waiting years for clean energy
Providing affordable clean energy to Europeans has become an “absolute obstacle course” due to the continent’s congested grid. More than €100 billion of renewables are stuck in Europe’s outdated energy grid, as communities across the continent wait years for solar panels and heat pumps. A new report by consulting group AFRY, commissioned by non-profit Beyond Fossil Fuels, found that a staggering 375 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy projects and 455 GW of battery storage projects are trapped in...
SoftBank plans 75 billion euros of AI investments in France, as Europe struggles to catch up with U.S. and China
Japan's SoftBank Group plans to invest 45 billion euros ($53 billion) over the next five years to build artificial intelligence infrastructure in France, the company said on Sunday. The tech giant said the commitment is part of a 75-billion-euro program to roll out 5 GW of AI data center capacity in France. Softbank said the initial phase of the plan involves building 3.1 GW of AI data centers in the northern Hauts-de-France region by 2031, including in Dunkirk, Bosquel and Bouchain.
Physics-Informed Single Atom Matching Pursuit: Guided-Waves Wavenumbers and Propagation Distance Estimation for Damage Localization in Structural Health Monitoring
arXiv:2606.03933v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) aims at the real-time monitoring of the integrity of engineering structures, with Guided-waves (GWs) providing high sensitivity to damage presence and to ageing effects for thin-walled components. In conventional GW-based SHM, a bonded piezoelectric transducer (PZT) emits a short tone burst that produces an Initial Wave Packet (IWP) propagating through the structure. As this packet interacts with boundaries...
