H&R Block Coupon: 25% Off DIY + Tax Pro Assist
As they say, the only things you can't escape in life are death and taxes. Doing your own taxes has only gotten easier over the years but it’s still plenty confusing, especially with both federal and state rules and rates always in flux. To help you figure out this confusing process, I’ve written a guide on How to Pay Your Taxes Online, and included H&R Block and other competitors to give you more information as you navigate between the seemingly endless options available for your specific...
Cloning a Sennheiser BA2015 battery pack
One of the annoying things about electronics is that so many companies must make their own incompatible battery packs. For many products these are expensive but at some level still reasonable, the battery pack contains the protection circuitry and some guaranteed high quality Li-ion cells. This is not one of those devices.
A 5.3-million-year-old deep-sea whale necropolis in the Diamantina Zone
Abstract Whale falls are biodiversity oases at seabeds1,2,3,4,5,6, yet their record from the oceans has remained sparse and fragmentary6,7. Here we report the discovery of a vast whale necropolis in the Diamantina Zone (4,616- to 7,001-m depth), extending about 1,200 km along the sea floor of the southeastern Indian Ocean. This area has a deep and extensive accumulation comprising five modern natural whale-fall communities and 476 fossil cetaceans recorded.
Can You Stop a Hypersonic Missile?
Can You Stop a Hypersonic Missile? The headlines say yes. Patriot crews shot down a Kinzhal over Kyiv on the night of May 4, 2023.
Diverse binding poses of agonistic neurotoxins on human Nav1.6
Abstract Voltage-gated sodium (Nav) channels are key targets of various venomous toxins. Deciphering the binding poses and mechanisms of action of representative toxins will help to dissect the functional mechanism of the channels and facilitate therapeutic development targeting Nav channels1,2. Here we present cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) structures of distinct binding poses of three agonistic peptide toxins on the human Nav1.6–β1 channel complex.
Mutually Unbiased Bases for Variational Quantum Initialization: Basis-Union Optimality and Adaptive Family Search
arXiv:2605.16060v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: We study mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) as structured finite initialization and adaptation families for variational quantum algorithms. The main theoretical result is that, in every dimension admitting a complete set of MUBs, the complete MUB ensemble maximizes isotropic Gaussian random-Hamiltonian width among all unions of d+1 orthonormal bases in C^d. Equivalently, within this basis-union class, it gives the smallest expected...
Efficient and accurate neural-field reconstruction using resistive memory
Abstract Applications such as medical imaging, augmented and virtual reality, and embodied artificial intelligence (AI) depend on the ability to reconstruct complex signals from sparse observations. These applications are characterized by incomplete measurements and limited computational resources. Traditional approaches to digital hardware face the following challenges: explicit signal representations require heavy sampling and storage, data movement across the von Neumann bottleneck...
How Indian immigrants have fueled billion-dollar startups in America over the years
American startups founded by immigrants are creating an average of 833 jobs per company and are collectively worth nearly $5 trillion, according to a new report by the National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP). Indian immigrants, the report says, have emerged as the largest contributor to this success story, founding or co-founding more billion-dollar startups in the United States than immigrants from any other country. “The research indicates that more open immigration policies will...
Light-induced quantum friction of carbon nanotubes in water
Abstract Friction slows down moving objects at both macroscopic and microscopic scales1. At the electronic level, quantum friction describes direct transfer of momentum between a liquid and the electrons of a solid2. Owing to its microscopic nature, this phenomenon remains experimentally challenging to capture3.
Federal judge blocks H1B visa $100K fee
Federal judge blocks H1-B visa $100K fee Sen. Murkowski says ruling is a ‘welcome relief’ for Alaska’s students ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A federal judge ruled on Monday to block President Donald Trump’s policy on imposing a $100,000 fee for new H1-B visas, a ruling that could save hundreds of education jobs in Alaska. The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant, employer-sponsored visa for foreign professionals in “specialty occupations” requiring at least a bachelor’s degree, commonly in STEM,...
