The 11 best cozy sci-fi games for those chill cosmic vibes

The 11 best cozy sci-fi games for those chill cosmic vibes From farming and walking sims to space trucking, you can live that cozy life… but in space! The best sci-fi games are often pigeonholed into specific genres like shooters, strategy games, and RPGs, and for good reason; franchises like Mass Effect, StarCraft, and Half-Life are all-time classics. But sometimes it’s nice to explore the stars in a safer way... a more chill, vibey kind of way that helps you relax and unwind.

Critical Te-104 decay measurements may help answer century-old alpha particle formation question

Critical Te-104 decay measurements may help answer century-old alpha particle formation question Gaby Clark Scientific Editor Robert Egan Associate Editor University of Tennessee, Knoxville physicists and their colleagues have made critical measurements of the lifetime and decay energy of tellurium-104 (Te-104), an important step in answering a century-old question and understanding how hundreds of nuclei decay. The results are published in Nature. A particle determined to escape Professor...

'The Arrival' at 30: Charlie Sheen’s criminally underrated alien invasion thriller feels much scarier today

'The Arrival' at 30: Charlie Sheen’s criminally underrated alien invasion thriller feels much scarier today The science fiction film trope of the passionate astronomer monitoring radio telescopes in search of transmissions from an extraterrestrial intelligence, then actually hearing one, seems cliché today after decades of overuse. Surprisingly, its origins actually aren’t that old. It can be traced to 1996’s "The Arrival," which happens to be marking its 30th anniversary today.

mRNAutilus: Multi-Objective-Guided Discrete Generation of mRNA with Optimized Therapeutic Properties

arXiv:2605.31296v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Therapeutic mRNA design requires coordinating multiple interacting sequence features across the full transcript, where codon usage, untranslated regions (UTRs), and their coupling jointly determine stability, translation efficiency, and protein expression. Here, we present mRNA generation via unrolled trajectories and informed latent updates (mRNAutilus), a framework for simultaneous codon optimization and de novo UTR design directly from...

SIRT7 regulates dosage compensation and safeguards the female X chromosome

Abstract Sirtuins are deacetylases implicated in stress responses and longevity in mammals1,2. Although their differential impact on disease for the two sexes has been noted3,4,5,6,7, the underlying reasons are unclear. Here, using Sirt7 as a model in mice, we examine the mechanisms leading to sex differences and find that Sirt7−/− female mice have decreased fitness throughout their lifespan.

Molecular glue degraders of HuR suppress BRAF-mutant colorectal cancer

Abstract BRAF gain-of-function mutations, particularly BRAF(V600E), affect roughly 10% of all patients with colorectal cancer (CRC), and portend poor prognosis with limited therapeutic interventions. BRAF inhibitors such as encorafenib are ineffective due to MAPK pathway reactivation driven by BRAF dimerization. Combined inhibition of BRAF and EGFR, although approved therapies, results in short survival benefits and frequent treatment resistance and relapse1,2,3.

Physics-Informed Neural Network Modeling of Biodegradable Contaminant Transport through GCL/SL Composite Liners

arXiv:2606.04392v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This study develops a two-domain physics-informed neural network framework for contaminant transport through a GCL/SL composite liner system, in which the thin GCL layer is treated using a steady-state advection-dispersion-biodegradation formulation and the underlying soil liner is modeled as a transient transport domain. Two formulations are evaluated against analytical and finite-element reference solutions under different leachate-head...
