Entropy-Compatible Barrier Schemes for Diffusive FENE Flows
arXiv:2606.05209v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: FENE-type conformation-tensor models impose a finite-extensibility constraint that is absent from Oldroyd--B flow: the conformation tensor must satisfy $\CC\succ0$ and $\tr\CC<L^2$. Positive definiteness alone is therefore insufficient, since a numerical state can remain positive while crossing the singular trace barrier. Even a trace-preserving logarithmic parametrization is not enough by itself: high-order reconstruction can remain inside...

Divergence-free unfitted finite element discretisations for the Darcy problem
arXiv:2603.26212v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: We develop an unfitted compatible finite element discretisation for the Darcy problem based on $H(\mathrm{div})$-conforming flux spaces and discontinuous pressure spaces. The method is designed to preserve pointwise discrete mass conservation while remaining robust in the presence of arbitrarily small cut cells arising from unfitted meshes. Robustness is achieved by combining an $L^2$-stabilisation of the flux with an additional mixed-term...
Cohomology of Finite Element Stokes Complexes on Alfeld Splits
arXiv:2605.31348v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: We show that the cohomology of the finite element Stokes complex consisting of piecewise polynomials spaces on an Alfeld split mesh from Fu, Guzm\'{a}n, & Neilan (2020, Math. Comp., 89, 1059--1091) is isomorphic to the cohomologies of the continuous Stokes and de Rham complexes. We also construct novel "minimal" conforming finite element complexes where the $H^1$-conforming space is the lowest-order space from Guzm\'{a}n & Neilan (2018, SIAM J....
Diverse binding poses of agonistic neurotoxins on human Nav1.6
Abstract Voltage-gated sodium (Nav) channels are key targets of various venomous toxins. Deciphering the binding poses and mechanisms of action of representative toxins will help to dissect the functional mechanism of the channels and facilitate therapeutic development targeting Nav channels1,2. Here we present cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) structures of distinct binding poses of three agonistic peptide toxins on the human Nav1.6–β1 channel complex.
Uniform Schwarz Preconditioners for Variable-Degree $hp$ Finite Element Interface Problems
arXiv:2606.03141v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: We construct $h$- and $p$-robust, degree-preserving space decompositions and additive Schwarz preconditioners for variable-degree $hp$ finite element discretizations of reaction-diffusion and fitted-interface problems. On conforming simplicial meshes in arbitrary dimension, the single-domain result allows an arbitrary elementwise degree distribution subject only to $p_K\ge1$. A minimal-average Falk--Winther bubble transform is introduced by...
Structural basis for chaperone-guided assembly of RNA-induced silencing complex
Abstract The RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), comprising an Argonaute (AGO) protein and a small RNA, is the central effector in RNA silencing. Small RNAs are loaded onto AGO as bulky duplexes in an HSP70- and HSP90-dependent process1,2,3, but the molecular mechanism remains poorly understood. Here we identify the human AGO–HSP90–p23 complex, which captures AGO in an RNA-free state, termed the AGO maturation complex (AMC).
SIRT7 regulates dosage compensation and safeguards the female X chromosome
Abstract Sirtuins are deacetylases implicated in stress responses and longevity in mammals1,2. Although their differential impact on disease for the two sexes has been noted3,4,5,6,7, the underlying reasons are unclear. Here, using Sirt7 as a model in mice, we examine the mechanisms leading to sex differences and find that Sirt7−/− female mice have decreased fitness throughout their lifespan.
Light-induced quantum friction of carbon nanotubes in water
Abstract Friction slows down moving objects at both macroscopic and microscopic scales1. At the electronic level, quantum friction describes direct transfer of momentum between a liquid and the electrons of a solid2. Owing to its microscopic nature, this phenomenon remains experimentally challenging to capture3.
Molecular glue degraders of HuR suppress BRAF-mutant colorectal cancer
Abstract BRAF gain-of-function mutations, particularly BRAF(V600E), affect roughly 10% of all patients with colorectal cancer (CRC), and portend poor prognosis with limited therapeutic interventions. BRAF inhibitors such as encorafenib are ineffective due to MAPK pathway reactivation driven by BRAF dimerization. Combined inhibition of BRAF and EGFR, although approved therapies, results in short survival benefits and frequent treatment resistance and relapse1,2,3.
