Adaptive NAD: Online and Self-adaptive Unsupervised Network Anomaly Detector

arXiv:2410.22967v5 Announce Type: replace Abstract: The widespread usage of the Internet of Things (IoT) has raised the risks of cyber threats; thus, developing Anomaly Detection Systems (ADSs) that can adapt to evolving traffic pattern is critical. Previous studies primarily focused on offline unsupervised learning methods to safeguard ADSs, which is not applicable in practical real-world applications. In this paper, we design Adaptive NAD, an online and self-Adaptive unsupervised Network...

Extracellular NAD(P) activates systemic acquired resistance through LecRK-VI.2-mediated phosphorylation of NPR1

Systemic acquired resistance (SAR) is a long-lasting, broad-spectrum immune response induced in distal tissues by signals generated at primary infection sites. Although numerous mobile immune signals have been implicated in SAR, how these signals are perceived and mechanistically coupled to transcriptional reprogramming in systemic tissues remains poorly understood. functions as a key integrative SAR signal that activates immunity through the plasma membrane-localized lectin receptor kinase...

Legendary 130-year-old French wine restored after decades under Czech castle floor

Legendary 130-year-old French wine restored after decades under Czech castle floor Eight bottles of a legendary French wine that survived World War II and decades of communist rule hidden under a Czech castle floor have been lovingly restored by the chateau that produced them some 130 years ago. The bottles of Chateau d'Yquem -- one of the world's most expensive, highly-prized sweet white wines -- are a part of a collection of 136 bottles discovered at the western Czech castle of Becov nad...

SurGe: Improved Surface Geometry in Point Maps

arXiv:2605.31577v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Recent feedforward 3D reconstruction methods predict point maps and estimate global 3D geometry remarkably well. However, their predictions still exhibit inaccurate local surface geometry, which is clearly visible qualitatively but only weakly reflected in common metrics. To make these errors more explicit in evaluation, we introduce a point map normal metric that evaluates the local surface orientation induced by neighboring 3D predictions.

Balancing of immune activation and suppression during phage infection

Signaling-based anti-bacteriophage systems such as CBASS and Thoeris synthesize infection-triggered nucleotide signals that activate anti-phage effectors. However, the phage features sensed by these systems and the mechanisms phages use to evade signaling immunity remain poorly understood. Here, studying clinically relevant Pseudomonas aeruginosa phages from the Migulavirinae family, we show that closely related phages encode subtle allelic variation in side tail fiber proteins that...

In Vitro Efficacy of Paclitaxel-loaded PLGA Nanoformulations for Lung Cancer Treatment Demonstrated by Label-free Multiphoton-Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality, and despite its limited efficacy, and low specificity, chemotherapy is still commonly used as a first-line treatment. Herein, we prepare and characterize poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles (NPs) for the use as a non-targeted nanocarrier drug delivery system for the chemotherapeutic drug, paclitaxel (PTX). Drug loading capability, mono-dispersity, zeta potential, morphology, and drug release profile were...

The Unreasonable Redundancy of Nature's Protein Folds

The Unreasonable Redundancy of Nature's Protein Folds Over the last few years, deep neural networks have made generative language modeling dramatically more powerful, giving us large language models. A similar leap happened for continuous modalities like images and videos.
