10th straight defeat: PV Sindhu falls to An Se Young, crashes out of Indonesia Open

Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu's run at the Indonesia Open ended in the pre-quarterfinals on Thursday after she lost to world No. 1 An Se Young for the second week in a row. Sindhu, who had also gone down to the South Korean in the quarterfinals of last week's Singapore Open, lost 17-21, 14-21 in the round of 16 match.

BEV-ODOM2: Enhanced BEV-based Monocular Visual Odometry with PV-BEV Fusion and Dense Flow Supervision for Ground Robots

Announce Type: replace Abstract: Scale-consistent ego-motion estimation is fundamental for autonomous ground robots. Bird's-Eye-View (BEV) representation naturally addresses the scale drift problem of monocular visual odometry (MVO) by providing a metric-scaled planar workspace, enabling the simplification of 6-DoF ego-motion to a more robust 3-DoF model. However, existing BEV-based methods suffer from two key limitations: sparse supervision signals from pose-only training, and information...

Linezolid Acts as a Selective Inhibitor of the JAK2V617F Mutation

The JAK2V617F (JAK2VF) driver mutation is found in 95% of patients with polycythemia vera (PV), a progressive myeloproliferative neoplasm. Current treatments suppress excessive hematopoiesis but lack specificity for targeting JAK2VF cells, are unable to deplete mutant stem/progenitor cells and ultimately result in drug resistance. We discovered that the FDA-approved antibiotic, linezolid (LZD), ameliorates the PV phenotype across multiple model systems.

Explainable Data-driven Deep Reinforcement Learning Methods for Optimal Energy Management in Buildings

arXiv:2606.02049v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: The increasing integration of renewable energy sources into power systems, particularly in buildings equipped with photovoltaic (PV) panels and energy storage systems, introduces significant complexity in energy systems. Volatile power generation, varying electricity tariffs, and increased entities, e.g., PV systems, and heat pumps, have increased the complexity and made the system harder to operate. This leads to the demand for additional...

Time series Foundation Models based on Physics-Informed Synthetic Histories for Cold-Start Photovoltaic Forecasting

arXiv:2606.07457v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: At commissioning time, Photovoltaic (PV) operators must forecast production before target-site observations are available, limiting the direct use of standard supervised forecasters. This cold-start setting is addressed with a zero-shot pipeline that generates a synthetic production history from plant metadata and meteorological covariates, enabling time-series foundation models (TSFMs) to forecast through inference-time conditioning. Five...

Multiple approaches for CRISPR-based targeting of DNA methylation to promoters of bacterial and viral susceptibility genes in cassava

Targeted epigenetic modifications of specific gene regulatory regions have the potential to confer beneficial traits for crop improvement. Two recently developed CRISPR/Cas9-based epigenome editing tools were tested in transgenic cassava to target cytosine methylation to the promoter region of MeSWEET10a, a necessary gene for infection by the Cassava bacterial blight pathogen, Xanthomonas phaseoli pv. manihotis. The two systems leverage unique methyltransferases, and each induced distinct...

Constraining reionization morphology and source properties with 21cm galaxy cross-correlation surveys

arXiv:2601.18627v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Cross-correlations between 21cm observations and galaxy surveys provide a powerful probe of reionization by providing robustness against foreground contamination while linking ionization morphology to galaxies. We quantified the constraining power of 21cm galaxy cross-power spectra for inferring the neutral hydrogen fraction, $x_\mathrm{HI}(z),$ and mean overdensity, $\langle 1+\delta_\mathrm{HI} \rangle(z)$, exploring dependence on...

Wildlife thrives in solar farm built on restored peatland

A solar farm on a rewetted peatland is home to more types of bird than drained agricultural fields nearby, suggesting that land used for renewable energy can make money for landowners, lock away carbon and boost biodiversity at the same time. Peatlands are the largest terrestrial carbon store, holding twice as much carbon as all forests. But enormous tracts of them have been drained to create farm fields or dug up to produce potting soil for gardening.

Plug-in solar is soaring across Europe – but is it better than traditional rooftop panels?

Solar is helping rescue Europeans from the soaring cost of fossil fuels, but experts warn that energy bills may still increase due to the ‘rebound’ effect. Solar has been described as a “shining star” in Europe’s clean energy transition, cushioning households from volatile fossil fuel shocks. Amid the war on Iran, which has sent oil and gas prices skyrocketing, Europeans have been scrambling to gain energy independence.
