Sharp periodic Ge concentration modulations beyond the conduction band valley wavevector $k_0$ in nuclear spin-free Si quantum wells
new Abstract: Periodic Ge modulations within strained Si quantum wells in SiGe heterostructures offer a route to deterministically enhance conduction-band valley splitting in Si, a key requirement for scalable spin-qubit quantum computing. Efficient enhancement requires modulations in the order of the Si valley wavevector $k_0$ (9.7 nm$^{-1}$), corresponding to a period of 0.64 nm and near-monolayer growth control. Using nuclear-spin-free molecular beam epitaxy with $^{28}$Si and $^{72}$Ge,...

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has released the admit cards for the UP Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Document Verification (DV) and Physical Standard Test (PST) 2026. Candidates who appeared for the written examination held on March 14 and 15, 2026, and were declared successful can now download their admit cards from the official website. The admit card has been made available on the UPPRPB portal.
HVPE Growth of Si-Doped $\beta$-Ga$_2$O$_3$ on Sapphire: Influence of Substrate Offcut on Structural and Electrical Properties
arXiv:2606.05607v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Si-doped $\beta$-Ga$_2$O$_3$ films were heteroepitaxially grown on sapphire substrates using HVPE. The influence of sapphire offcut on growth kinetics, surface morphology, crystalline quality, and electrical transport properties was systematically investigated. Growth kinetics studies revealed a strong dependence of deposition rate on HCl flow, growth pressure, and source-to-substrate distance, with growth rates reaching up to 30 $\mu$m/hr.
Brooks Nader, Alix Earle and Molly Sims stun in barely-there bikini looks at SI Swimsuit runway show
A roster of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models made a splash in Miami Beach. The 2026 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show, which took place Saturday night during Swim Week, brought dozens of pinups, athletes, influencers and celebrities to the catwalk, where they flaunted some of the event's most sizzling looks and unveiled beachy trends. Some new names and familiar faces who strutted their stuff this year included Brooks Nader, Camille Kostek, Alix Earle, Molly Sims and Katie Austin,...
Model Penny Lane's work on the SI Swimsuit runway last weekend still has the internet talking
To nobody’s surprise in the OutKick Culture Department, Penny Lane has officially become a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit superstar thanks to a runway walk Kate Upton would be proud of. The 31-year-old model’s work on the brand’s Miami Swim Week runway last weekend still has the internet talking. Her viral strut and subsequent bounce were reposted on Twitter and is approaching 20 million views in just a couple of days.
SI Swimsuit model Carol Alt was 'on the verge of death' before dramatic health turnaround
Carol Alt was quietly battling debilitating health issues that left her so drained and weak that the model was convinced she was "on the verge of death. "Alt, one of the most recognizable faces of the 1980s, made her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut in 1981 and landed the cover just a year later. She was featured in the outlet six times between 1981 and 1989.
Multi-omics analysis reveals chromatin and transcriptomic remodeling in hippocampal CA1 following adolescent social isolation
Social isolation (SI) during adolescence is associated with long-term vulnerability to psychiatric disorders; however, its effect on the hippocampal epigenome and transcriptome remains unclear. Here, we performed integrative ATAC-seq and RNA-seq of the hippocampal CA1 region using an adolescent mouse SI model, combined with single-cell RNA-seq reference mapping and cell type deconvolution. ATAC-seq identified SI-associated alterations in chromatin accessibility, including an increase in...
A Study of the Scale Invariant Signal to Distortion Ratio in Speech Separation with Noisy References
arXiv:2508.14623v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: This paper examines the implications of using the Scale-Invariant Signal-to-Distortion Ratio (SI-SDR) as both evaluation and training objective in supervised speech separation, when the training references contain noise, as is the case with the de facto benchmark WSJ0-2Mix. A derivation of the SI-SDR with noisy references reveals that noise limits the achievable SI-SDR, or leads to undesired noise in the separated outputs. To address...
Systematic comparison of VMEC and HINT equilibrium calculations for finite-beta LHD plasmas
arXiv:2606.10490v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: A systematic comparison between VMEC and HINT equilibrium calculations has been carried out for Large Helical Device plasmas to clarify the influence of the assumption of the nested flux surfaces at finite beta. Three vacuum magnetic-axis configurations, $R_{\rm axV} = \SI{3.53}{\, m}$, $\SI{3.60}{\, m}$, $\SI{3.85}{\, m}$, are examined for the beta values on the axis in the range $\beta_0 \in [0.0\%, 5.0\%]$. The magnetic-axis position, the...
Initial results of the TRIUMF ultracold advanced neutron source
arXiv:2509.02916v4 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: We report the first results on ultracold neutron production from a new spallation-driven superfluid $^4$He (He-II) source at TRIUMF, which is being prepared for a new, precise measurement of the neutron electric dipole moment. A total of $(9.3 \pm 0.8)\times 10^{5}$ ultracold neutrons were observed at a proton beam current of \SI{37}{\uA}, when the target was irradiated for a period of \SI{60}{\s}.
