'Hole at bottom, vessel sinking': Indian crew sends SOS after US missile strike
An Indian-crewed oil tanker sent desperate distress calls seeking "immediate help" after it was struck by a US missile off the coast of Oman, leaving the vessel on fire and taking on water. "US Navy attack, the missile on our engine room. We have hole at the bottom ... 24 crew.
Slow Oscillations Gate Interictal Spikes Across the Human Thalamocortical-Epileptogenic Network
Background: Slow oscillations (SOs; 0.5-1.5 Hz), a hallmark of non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, are associated with a marked amplification of interictal epileptiform spike (IIS) activity in focal epilepsy. However, the network-level organization of this effect across the thalamocortical-epileptogenic system, and whether IIS-permissive SOs can be predicted from pre-onset brain states, remain unclear. Methods: We analyzed simultaneous scalp EEG and stereo-EEG (SEEG) recordings from 6...
Thalamic Nuclei Differentially Coordinate Propagation of Cortical Slow Oscillations
Sleep slow oscillations (SOs) vary in the spatial extent of their cortical propagation, ranging from widespread Global events to spatially restricted Frontal events. These distinctions could have functional consequences for memory consolidation. It remains unknown whether individual thalamic nuclei are differentially engaged across SO propagation types, and whether thalamic activity before SO onset predicts subsequent propagation.
Travel is becoming more unpredictable – here’s how to prepare
Travel is becoming more unpredictable – here’s how to prepare From reading the fine print on insurance policies to making sure you have access to your travel documents even if you lose internet connection, here’s how to travel smarter in uncertain times. Travellers today are navigating an increasingly unpredictable world, from pandemics and global conflict to changing immigration requirements. For example, the ripple effects from the Iran war have included spikes in jet fuel prices,...
Former Disney star reveals her 'genius hack' for cooling down on delayed flight
Former Disney Channel star Leigh-Allyn Baker posted a very talkable video recently showing how she soaked her feet in a cup of ice water while stuck on a delayed airplane — prompting numerous reactions, including many positive ones. Best known for playing Amy Duncan on Disney Channel's "Good Luck Charlie," Baker shared the video after her flight sat on the runway for roughly two hours with apparently little air conditioning. Stuck on a plane, sitting on the runway, for TWO HOURS," Baker...

A Koopman Set-Membership Approach for Nonlinear Data-Driven Control with Stability Guarantees
arXiv:2606.01378v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This paper proposes a data-driven controller design method for unknown nonlinear systems based on a Koopman bilinear realization. Using Koopman operator theory, the nonlinear system can be represented as a bilinear discrete-time system with a residual error term. The residual error is proportionally bounded by the norm of the lifted state and input, while the system matrices of the bilinear model are unknown.
