U.S.-based artificial intelligence firm Anthropic is granting dozens of new firms and organizations access to its powerful AI model Mythos, which can exploit software vulnerabilities.
“We’re extending the partnership to approximately 150 new organizations,” the firm said in a Tuesday update about its Glasswing Project. Anthropic launched Glasswing as a coalition of — initially mostly U.S.-based — trusted tech and cyber firms with access to Mythos to build cybersecurity defenses.
The new group is based in more than 15 countries, it said. The company will keep continuing to expand Glasswing “even further”.
“We intend for future expansions to cover organizations in the U.S. and overseas, just as this one does.”
EU countries that would now gain access to the model are France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium and Sweden, the FT reported.
The announcement comes on the back of news that Anthropic had invited the EU’s cybersecurity agency, ENISA, to access the model following a meeting in San Francisco last week. The EU must now put in place a mechanism to access the model with proper security safeguards, a Commission official familiar with the process said on Monday.
European regulators and EU agencies were initially kept in the dark about the model’s capabilities.
Anthropic said “each [new organization granted access] will need to meet our security requirements before they gain access.”
