A Chilean Air Force plane suffered engine failure and crashed in the Coquimbo region, with a major search launched to find the two pilots
A search was launched for two pilots after a Chilean Air Force plane suffered engine failure and crashed.
The Pillán T-35 aircraft went down this morning in the Coquimbo region.
Local media says the the plane took off from El Bosque Air Base in Santiago, and was travelling north towards Antofagasta when it got into difficulty.
It suffered a problem with the engine around 20 miles from La Serena and crashed before bursting into flames. Miraculously, the two pilots survived.
