Thomas Tuchel has asked lower league side Miami United to help with England’s World Cup preparations.
England boss Tuchel is keen to have another training match between the friendlies with New Zealand on Saturday and Costa Rica the following Wednesday. Miami United play in the United Premier Soccer League and the game is likely to be more of a training exercise to work on set-pieces, drills and fitness.
It will be more of a training exercise than the other two matches. Miami United are managed by Claudio Frean, who once managed the Haiti Under-20 team in his homeland.
England defender Dan Burn said: “Training is difficult sometimes because everybody knows what's happening.
“So when we're doing patterns or deep build-up or or something like that, everyone knows what happens.
“I feel like we're the more time that we spend with each other and the more time we're repeating the stuff that the manager and the staff's trying to get across, that it's just makes us stronger.”
Miami United are classed as the oldest football club in the City of Miami, and describe themselves as “a platform for opportunity developing players, opening pathways to college and professional football.”
The match will is part of Tuchel’s acclimatisation plans here in Florida, with players trying to get into a rhythm before facing Croatia on June 17 in their tournament opener. Marcus Rashford and Harry Kane have been in top form, according to Burn.
Burn added: “We’ve got lads who are winning like major tournaments and not just in England, but obviously Rashy winning La Liga and Harry being in the the Bundesliga and ripping it up, and then knowing as well like we've done well in qualifying.”
