National Highways have confirmed that due to 'unforeseen circumstances' the busy motorway remains shut - which has led to very big queues for drivers on Friday morning
There are long queues on a major UK motorway this morning as planned roadworks have overrun.
Stuck motorists currently suffering through a six-mile-long traffic queue on the M25 anti-clock between J27 (M11) and J25 (Enfield) on Friday morning, June 5.
National Highways has confirmed that, "due to unforeseen circumstances", overnight roadworks have run over their scheduled timeframe. A spokesperson said: "There is no estimate for reopening."This is a live blog. We'll update you on this ongoing incident throughout the morning
Google Maps is currently showing 10 miles of traffic on the M25.
The mapping site also states that the roadworks are set to finish at 11.30am,which gives some sort of timeframe - albeit a lengthy one - in spite of National Highways, which has left the estimated restoration time for the M25 as simply 'unknown'.
People on social media are, well, less than thrilled about the rush hour mayhem on the M25.
One man named Jimmy King took to X to fume: "Are you having a laugh? Seriously disgusting, people have got work. Couldn’t organise anything, could you? Useless."
Another fella named Tom added: "Just hit an hour to travel three miles. Disgraceful."
