Free fruit for certain Morrisons customers across next three weeks - exact dates Eligible customers will be able to enjoy the free fruit on certain dates over the coming weeks Morrisons has launched a new scheme for the next few weeks, which means eligible customers can enjoy free fruit. The announcement, shared by the supermarket on Wednesday (June 10), marks a fresh giveaway for shoppers as millions of fans prepare for the FIFA World Cup. Morrisons is bringing a juicy twist to the summer's football celebrations by giving away completely free oranges to kids. In a nostalgic nod to the classic grassroots football tradition of orange slices at half-time, children visiting English or Scottish Morrisons stores can score a free orange on England and Scotland match days throughout the group stages. What are the exact dates shoppers can get this offer? The fruity freebie officially kicks off on June 14 for Scotland's opening game, followed by their fixtures on June 19 and 24. Three Lions fans can grab theirs for England's big games on June 17, 23 and 27. It is not the first time the supermarket has looked after its youngest shoppers. This tournament giveaway builds on Morrisons' highly popular, long-standing initiative of giving away free fresh fruit to kids in all its supermarkets, which has been running since 2018 to help families hit their five-a-day. A spokesperson said: "Whether the family is screaming at the telly from the sofa, throwing a wild match-day party, or the kids are chasing their own football glory in the back garden, Morrisons is making sure young supporters stay match-ready. The oranges will be available to little shoppers on Morrisons Market Street on select dates while stocks last." Welsh fans will not miss out on the action either. Customers visiting Morrisons stores in Wales will be able to pick up free fruit for kids at their local Market Street as per usual. Jacob Uren, Senior Citrus Trader at Morrisons, said: "Encouraging children to enjoy fresh fruit has long been important to us at Morrisons, and orange slices are such a nostalgic part of football culture. We hope our free oranges help keep little fans refreshed, energised and ready to cheer on England and Scotland this summer." Are oranges a healthy option for kids? Oranges are a fantastic and very nutritious choice for children. They are rich in important nutrients that support a growing body, making them a much better option than processed, sugary snacks. Oranges are famous for their high Vitamin C levels, which help shield kids from colds and aid wound healing. The natural fibre found in oranges helps with constipation, and their high water content keeps kids hydrated. Vitamin C also aids the body in absorbing plant-based iron, which helps maintain energy levels and prevents tiredness. They provide good amounts of potassium, calcium, and phosphate, which are essential for bone development and heart health. Who will England be playing against in the FIFA World Cup this June? - On Wednesday, June 17, England will play against Croatia in the Dallas Stadium in Texas at 9pm on ITV1. - On Tuesday, June 23, England will play against Ghana in the Boston Stadium in Massachusetts at 9pm on BBC One. - On Saturday, June 27, England will play against Panama in the NYNJ Stadium in New Jersey at 10pm on ITV1.
