Britain to bake in June heatwave with mercury set to rocket to sweltering 34C The Met Office has issued its heatwave verdict as WXCharts weather maps and forecasts show temperatures could soar to 34C amid "very warm or hot conditions" across England and Wales in mid-June 2026 Britain is set for another scorching heatwave with weather maps forecasting highs of 34C next week. Meteorologists expect "very warm or hot conditions" as high pressure sweeps in from the west. It will be particularly hot across the East of England and the Southeast of England. The Met Office's long-range forecast covering the period between 15 June and 24 June says it will be sunny for most regions, with a forecast similar to last month's scorcher on the cards. It states: "Fine and dry across much of the UK for the first couple of days of this period with long spells of sunshine for most. "Temperatures are likely to be above normal and parts of the south could be very warm for a time. Just a chance of some thunderstorms, more likely toward the southwest. "A more unsettled spell is likely through the middle of next week with outbreaks of rain the north and northwest, some of which could spread to parts of the south and southeast at times. After this, high pressure will probably become more dominant with conditions turning widely dry and settled, and probably very warm for many." The Met Office had previously said the recent unsettled spells will end, reports the Express. It commented on weather maps, which are a sizzling red to indicate the upturn in conditions. The forecaster's three-month outlook indicated that the likelihood of a scorching summer is greater than usual. A separate forecast from WXCharts has also indicated temperatures could climb significantly, with certain parts of southern England potentially reaching 34C. The projections show temperatures rising gradually throughout mid-June, with substantial portions of England and Wales expected to enjoy highs in the mid-to-high 20s. Other regions of the UK, including London, the South East of England, and East Anglia could witness the mercury surpass 30C, while isolated pockets may edge closer to 34C if present predictions prove accurate. During this timeframe, Scotland and Northern Ireland appear likely to remain markedly cooler, with temperatures typically ranging between the mid-teens and low 20s. While long-range forecasts remain liable to change, meteorologists indicate the developing high-pressure system is making extended periods of dry, sunny and progressively warm conditions across much of England and Wales increasingly probable as June progresses, the Mirror reported.
