Authorities in South Africa said the returnees were found to be in the country illegally, contradicting Nigerian officials who they were fleeing xenophobic attacks. The first group of Nigerians returned home from South Africa on Thursday as part of a repatriation ordered by the government following violent anti-immigration protests. A total of 262 passengers and three officials were on board the flight to Lagos, according to Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Footage has emerged of the killing of seven-month-old Sam Abu Haikal in the occupied West Bank that appears to contradict the Israeli military’s account of the shooting. The Israel Defense Forces said its troops had 'perceived a vehicle accelerating toward them' and that one of its soldiers had 'responded with single shots toward the vehicle'. Video obtained by the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights, however, shows the family’s car slowing down and stopping.
