Urgent manhunt after drug dealer escapes prison van as police warn 'don't approach' Temitope Segun, 25, escaped from a prison van after attacking a guard in south-east London Members of the public are being urged not to approach a prisoner who fled from a transport van after appearing in court in south-east London on Monday. Temitope Segun, 25, who is serving a sentence for supplying class A drugs, was last spotted near Woolwich High Street at around 6:40pm on Monday, June 8, according to the Met. He was being transferred from Bromley Magistrates Court to HMP Thameside when he attacked a guard and made his escape, police said. Private contractor Serco, which was responsible for transporting the prisoner, said it was "investigating" the incident. Segun was last seen wearing a black jacket, black trousers and black trainers, and is thought to have connections to Plumstead, Abbey Wood and Woolwich. A Serco spokesperson said: "An incident occurred on the evening of Monday 8 June in Woolwich. The matter is under investigation." One member of staff was hurt in the incident and is currently recovering at home, they added. Serco holds a prisoner escort and custody services contract with the Ministry of Justice covering the south of England. Det Sgt Claudine Manning from the Met Police said: "My team of dedicated officers are working around the clock to trace and apprehend Temitope Segun. "It is imperative that the public contact police via 999 if they see him – or know where he may be."
