PC Jess Turnbull was seriously injured but an update from Northumbria Police has said that she has tragically died. Officers were called to a crash on the A189 in Cramlington at around 11.10pm on Tuesday night, Northumbria Police police said. While police were at the scene, a Black Mercedes crashed into a marked police car. The driver of the Mercedes – a 73-year-old man – was arrested following the incident. Officers from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit have launched an investigation. Northumbria Police said: "A police officer has tragically died in the line of duty after a collision in Northumberland. PC Jess Turnbull was responding to a collision which occurred on the A189 Spine Road in Cramlington at about 11.10pm on Monday. "We're keen to hear from any witnesses who were travelling in the area of the A189 Spine Road in Cramlington at about 11.10pm on Monday." This is a Breaking News story.
