Melbourne man charged with manufacturing firearms, drug trafficking Fri 12 Jun 2026 at 12:28pm A man has been charged after police allegedly found multiple firearms, imitation firearms, drugs and a machete at a property in Melbourne's west. Victoria Police said members of the illicit firearms squad, along with the Viper taskforce, arrested the 51-year-old man after searching the home in Sunshine on Thursday. They allegedly seized a number of items including six firearms, an imitation pistol that had been converted to fire live ammunition, two imitation pistols, firearm parts, items used to manufacture firearms and schematics and blueprints for the manufacture of firearms. Police said two of the firearms were Cat A rifles. They also allegedly found methylamphetamine, steroids and testosterone, and a machete. The man has been charged with a number of offences including possessing a traffickable amount of firearms, manufacturing firearms and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Police also charged the 51-year old with trafficking and possessing methylamphetamine.
