Lloyds and Halifax closing 79 more branches in 2026 — full list of affected sites The latest closures will affect 31 Lloyds Bank branches and 48 Halifax sites, adding to the 95 branch closures already announced by the banking giant earlier this year. Lloyds Banking Group is preparing to close 79 additional branches across Britain over the coming year as banks continue to reduce their high street footprint. The latest round of closures will impact 31 Lloyds Bank branches and 48 Halifax sites, coming on top of the 95 branch closures the banking giant had already announced earlier this year. Should all the planned closures proceed, Lloyds Banking Group will be left with 531 branches nationwide. The north-west and south-east of England are set to be amongst the worst-affected areas, with 12 branches in each region marked for closure. A further 10 branches in London will also shut their doors. The banking group stated that customers would retain access to services through other brands within its network, including Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland branches. The company said more than three-quarters of the branches due to close are situated within one mile of another Lloyds Banking Group site, while 95% have an alternative branch within five miles, reports the Express. A Lloyds Banking Group spokesman defended the closures, saying: "With access to one of the biggest branch networks in the UK, alongside local banking options like our Community Bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, plus our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service, we offer our customers more choice and convenience than ever before."
