Wife identified husband's body found by family on at roadside 28 hours after police 'closed SOS log' Nadeem Hussain's iPhone had sent a crash SOS alert message to Lancashire Police shortly after 10pm on Saturday, March 21 but the police log was closed after a first attempt to call the number A man’s family were forced to track down his body themselves after he was killed in a car crash on the M61 and police closed the log on the incident without investigating. Nadeem Hussain's iPhone had sent a crash SOS alert message to Lancashire Police shortly after 10pm on Saturday, March 21. However, after a first attempt to call the number went unanswered, the police log was closed and Nadeem’s family were forced to find him themselves, eventually discovering his body 28 hours later. Nadeem's distraught loved ones tracked his phone and made the horrific discovery at around 2am on Monday, March 23. They found his Audi A3 down the verge of the hard shoulder on the northbound carriageway of the M61. A Home Office post mortem examination found that 37-year-old Nadeem would have died instantly from his injuries, LancsLive reports. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) determined that an investigation should be conducted by the local constabulary. Tributes to Nadeem, known as Dimmy, have since been left on the hard shoulder close to where his car left the carriageway. Cones had been placed on the hard shoulder which National Highways confirmed are because of a drain cover which was damaged during the collision. An inquest into Nadeem's death was opened and adjourned at Preston Coroners' Court yesterday (Thursday June 11). The court heard Nadeem was a mechanic and was born in Burnley. Area Coroner Kate Bisset said: "Mr Hussain's death was referred to the coroner because he died from injuries caused by a road traffic collision. "The body was identified to PC Mason at the Royal Preston Hospital by Chloe; his wife of 10 years." After Nadeem's death a GoFundMe raised more than £4,000 to build wells in third world countries. In the fundraiser his family said: "Nadeem was a kind, thoughtful man who had the time for anyone and would do anything to help others around. "Many people have shared touching stories about Dimmy and his kind nature. His passion was for cars, fixing them, driving them, towing them he shared this passion alongside his father and has grown up being taught everything he knows from his father. "Nadeem was a loving father to three children, Maleesha, Anayah & Zakariyah. He spent his Sundays taking Anayah to the auctions & returning home with extra ‘treasures’ to annoy his wife. "He was a loving brother and son, very close to his sisters who are left heartbroken with Nadeem's departure from this world. They sadly lost Nadia, their other sister six months before Nadeem and as a family this is tragic for them." At yesterday's inquest opening the coroner said the case "remains with the police and CPS for investigation" and will be further mentioned on July 23.
