Girl, 14, in court accused of attempted murder in Manchester school knife attack Counter Terrorism Police are probing the alleged attack - Bookmark A 14-year-old girl has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder two students and a teacher in a school knife attack in Manchester. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared via videolink at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday. She is charged with three counts of attempted murder and two counts of possessing a bladed article on school premises. The girl spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and address. The alleged attack is being investigated by Counter Terrorism Police. At this time, it has not been declared a terrorist incident. District Judge Briony Clarke told the defendant: “Because of the seriousness of the charges that you face, I have to send this matter to the crown court.” The teenager will next appear at the Old Bailey on 19 June. She has been remanded to youth detention accommodation in the meantime. Two pupils, both aged 14, and a male member of staff, 27, were injured in the incident at a school in north Manchester on Tuesday morning, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) previously said. All three have been released from hospital and suffered no serious injuries, the force said. [Image text:] 2011 WESTMINSTERMAGISTRATES COURT
