At least one person was killed and ten people were injured after an “active shooter incident” in Midland, Texas.
The Midland Police Department is now in a standoff with the suspect, who is reportedly barricaded in a building. There are “11 known victims,” including one person who was killed, Mayor Lori Blong told reporters.
“Officers heard gunfire coming from the building and worked quickly to secure and clear the area. Armored units were deployed, and partner agencies assisted in the response. Efforts to bring the standoff with the shooter to a safe resolution are ongoing,” Midland Police Chief Greg Snow said in a statement.
Police are urging the public to stay away from the area, located near the 4600 block of West Wall Street. Officials have set up a family reunification center at Midland Memorial Hospital.
