Damian Bobadilla's own goal in the 7th minute gave USA an early lead. Folarin Balogun doubled the advantage in the 31st minute before adding a second in the 45th minute to make it 3-0 at half-time. Mauricio scored Paraguay's only goal in the 73rd minute from close range. Team USA dominated the match with about 70% possession. The hosts created numerous attacking opportunities throughout, while Paraguay struggled defensively in the first half before improving after the interval. Referee Danny Makkelie issued six yellow cards – three to each side. USA's attacking play was sharp and direct. Paraguay manager Gustavo Alfaro made multiple substitutions in search of a way back into the contest but could not find an equaliser.
