The fan in question is being dubbed the "worst pitch invader ever" after failing to even make it onto the pitch as the USA kicked off their campaign with a convincing victory over Paraguay in Los Angeles. As former Arsenal youngster Folarin Balogun netted twice in the 4-1 win, one fan ended the night being escorted from SoFi Stadium in humiliating circumstances after a botched attempt to storm the pitch. Just as the USA slotted home their fourth goal, the unidentified fan was spotted perched over the railing on a ledge between the stand and a short drop down to pitch level. As he dithered over making his move, the growing number of security staff below were able to prepare for his attempt. In footage circulating from streamers and supporters inside the stadium, the man can be seen pacing back and forth along the ledge while clutching the ball, reports the Daily Star. In the clip, one supporter shouts at him: "You f****** idiot" as another yells "you dumb***". The man eventually made his bold leap, landing straight into the arms of waiting security officials, who brought him swiftly to the ground within seconds. His failed stunt wasn't just mocked by those inside the stadium — it also caught the attention of social media users. One quipped: "Security tackled him faster than any striker tonight." Another added: "Literally just jumped in the middle of everyone.. guy just wanted a lifetime ban." A third wrote: "Imagine paying $2000 for a ticket, + fines and bail, only to get arrested and banned for life and not even coming close to invading the pitch. Fail on all levels." A fourth commented: "Even security didn't need to try that hard." Some supporters have also claimed that the individual is a streamer and that the pitch invasion was a pre-planned stunt.
