The plane went down near the Butler Memorial Airport, roughly 65 miles south of Kansas City. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after getting a call about the crash at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning, according to Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Justin Ewing. A witness reported seeing the plane engulfed in flames. “It landed in a field adjacent to the airport, but I think they’re shutting down the roadway just as a precaution,” Ewing said. Ewing said other details were not immediately available. The crash will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board, he added. More to follow...
