Teen arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after vehicle hits group of women A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two women were struck by a vehicle with one victim left in a life-threatening condition A teenage boy has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder after two women were hit by a car. Officers were informed that a vehicle had been driven towards a group of women who were standing on a path in Blyth, Northumberland. The car struck two women, both in their 30s, on Keelmans Terrace, near the junction with Beaumont Street, before fleeing the scene. The incident took place at approximately 1.25am on Friday morning. One of the women suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment, where she remains in a life-threatening condition. The second woman sustained non-serious injuries. Later that Friday, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and has since been released on police bail while further enquiries are carried out. Northumbria Police has launched a full investigation into the incident and is appealing for witnesses to come forward, believing those involved are known to one another, reports Chronicle Live. Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Barr, of the force's Major Investigation Team (MIT), said: "This has clearly been a very serious incident which has resulted in two people being injured, with one left in a life-threatening condition. "The investigation is at an early stage, but we do believe that those involved are known to each other. One person has been arrested and we are continuing to conduct enquiries in the area and offer reassurance to the public."
