Turkey is seeking higher oil flows through a crucial pipeline that runs through its territory from northern Iraq in order to renew a contract that expires in a little over a month, according to a Turkish official with direct knowledge of the matter.
Turkey wants the 986-km pipeline that carries oil from Northern Iraq, including fields from the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, to the port of Ceyhan to operate at its full capacity of 1.5 million barrels per day, the official said, asking not to be named discussing private matters. Turkey also wants a longer-term agreement from Iraq of five to 10 years, they added.
