Prince William and Kate Middleton announce Prince George will attend £63k-a-year Eton from September The Prince and Princess of Wales have revealed that from the new school year in September, their oldest son, Prince George, will attend Eton College The Prince and Princess of Wales have finally confirmed that Prince George will follow in his father's footsteps and attend Eton College from September. Their eldest son, who is 13 in July, is in his final term at Lambrook School, which he has attended since September 2022. When he returns to class following the summer holidays, the second-in-line to the throne will step up for secondary education at the £63,000-a-year a school, which was also attended by Prince Harry and 20 Prime Ministers - and is a 12-minute drive from their Forest Lodge home. A statement on behalf of William and Kate said: "Kensington Palace can confirm that Prince George will attend Eton College from September." The change will not only be a huge one for George, but also for his siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who have attended Lambrook alongside him for the past four years - and will remain there without him when the new school year begins. It will also mark the first time the future King has boarded fulltime - after dad William recently revealed George often boards on a part-time basis. The announcement comes after months of speculation about which school George would be attending for his secondary education. Other front-runners were believed to have been his mother's former school of Marlborough College, while William and Kate were also said to have recently been spotted touring Oundle School in Northamptonshire. George's father William, who turns 44 on Sunday, attended Eton between 1995 and 2000, where he boarded at Manor House. He arrived for his first day back in September 1995 with his parents, the then Prince Charles, his late mother Princess Diana and brother Prince Harry. He became the most senior royal to attend the school, although others who were educated there included the Duke of Kent, Prince Michael of Kent and the Duke of Gloucester. When he left, he had gained 12 GCSEs and three A-levels, with an A in Geography, B in history of art and a C in biology, earning him a place at St Andrew's University, where he met his future wife. But royal expert Jennie Bond says George’s experience of Eton could be very different to that of his father when he first started at there over 30 years ago. She previously told the Mirror : “When William was 13, he began his secondary education at Eton College. I remember standing a few yards away from him as he was welcomed by his housemaster, Dr Andrew Gailey – who became an important figure in the young Prince’s life. Both his parents were at his side but, by then, they were officially separated. "William and his brother had witnessed the painful breakup of the marriage over many years. So, in a way, being at boarding school became a haven for William. Things are very different for George, who has been brought up in a household full of love and harmony.” George was born on July 22, 2013 at the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, weighing 8lb 6oz. He was christened George Alexander Louis at the Chapel Royal at St James' Palace with his godparents including his father's cousin Zara Tindall, the wealthy landowner the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, and his late grandmother Princess Diana's friend, Julia Samuel.
