Imagine a time in U.S. history when politicians facing each other for a seat in Congress would openly root for teams besides the U.S. to win the World Cup, especially when it's being played on U.S. soil.
We're living during those times.
Just when you thought you'd heard it all from the Democrat Party, along comes Rep. Adriano Espaillat, who is seeking re-election to his sixth term in Congress and fellow Lib Darializa Chevalier, who is seeking her first trip to Washington, D.C. They're currently battling for New York's 13th Congressional seat.
During a segment on NYC TV station PIX 11, the two were asked a simple World Cup question. This is as big of a softball as you're going to get in politics.

"Who are you rooting for?" the host asked, while discussing the World Cup. Remember, Espaillat currently receives an annual salary of $174,000 as a member of Congress. Chevalier is seeking that salary and the power that comes along with it. Surely one will say the USA, right?
"Ah, I like Mexico," Espaillat said with a big, proud smile on his face.
Undaunted by that answer, and not sensing she might want to show some loyalty to her country, Chevalier, who is being backed by New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, stayed true to her lunatic liberal roots when it was her turn to answer. "I'm rooting for Senegal," she said. Short and sweet.
LIZ PEEK: DEMOCRATS FACE A SOCIALIST RECKONING THEY ARE TOO SCARED TO STOP
You shouldn't be surprised by her pick. Let's face it, she hates the U.S. She has gone on social media and declared that the U.S. is "a f--king disgrace" while wiping her dirty hands with the American flag. She's written that Israel doesn't exist. And she has declared in the past that "A world without borders—just like a world without prisons or police—is possible, necessary, and the only moral way forward."
You get the point. She hates the U.S.
And then there's Espaillat. He's Dominican by birth. In 1964, at age 9 and an illegal immigrant, Adriano and his family came to the U.S. He has been happily taking a taxpayer-supported salary in politics since 1997.
DECLINING DEMOCRATIC PRIDE IN AMERICA IS TROUBLING TREND FOR PARTY, ANALYSTS WARN
One of these two will represent the Democrats in the November election.
On social media, the LIBS were twisted into a pretzel trying to defend their candidates. But...but...but...what about TRUMP? Didn't he taunt the women's team when it lost to Sweden?
It would be wise to add some context to what was going on with the women's soccer team at that time. Megan Rapinoe and then-Republican candidate Trump were in one of their many feuds.
"Many of our players were openly hostile to America - No other country behaved in such a manner, or even close. WOKE EQUALS FAILURE. Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA," Trump wrote on social media in 2023.
In 2026, the Libs are openly rooting against the U.S. to gain votes. Let that sink in.
