A Love Island superfan has been clocked going more than 100 mph in Arizona as she tried to get home to watch the hit reality show, according to police.
The Arizona Department of Safety Highway Patrol announced the woman’s arrest during its “Speeding Saturday” roundup on Facebook this weekend.
A trooper caught the unidentified woman’s car going 108 mph in a 65 mph zone on a state highway through Pinal County on June 9, according to the Highway Patrol.
“The driver stated she was trying to get home fast to be able to watch the reality TV show ‘Love Island,’” the Facebook post read.
She was arrested and booked for criminal speed and reckless driving, according to police. The Highway Patrol said her vehicle was sent to “car jail” for 20 days.
The Independent has reached out to the Arizona Department of Safety for comment.
The eighth season of Love Island USA premiered on the streaming service Peacock on June 2. The show follows “sexy singles,” as Peacock puts it, who are looking for love — and a $100,000 prize.
The show garnered a “record-breaking” 824 million viewing minutes in the first three days of the season, Peacock reported. Following the premiere week, new episodes of the reality show have been streamed daily except on Wednesdays.
On a different note, Arizona’s Highway Patrol announced the arrest of another unidentified driver speeding on his way to church during its weekend roundup.
A trooper caught the driver going 93 mph in a 50 mph zone on Maricopa Casa Grande Highway last Wednesday, according to the Highway Patrol.
“The driver stated he was on his way from church and had known nothing about criminal speed,” the Facebook post read.
He was arrested and booked for criminal speed and reckless driving. His car was given to the front seat passenger.
