It's no secret that the Princess of Wales has a passion for sport, and she never misses an opportunity to throw herself into a sporting challenge during her royal engagements.
This is especially true when it involves going head to head with her equally competitive husband, Prince William. The couple have even instilled their love of sport in their children, George, Charlotte and Louis, with Kate revealing during a visit for Rugby Inclusivity Day that Charlotte has inherited her competitive streak too.
There is one particularly demanding exercise that Kate is said to be keen on, and given its high-intensity nature, it's likely at least partly responsible for keeping her in such great shape. It has been widely reported that Kate is a devoted fan of CrossFit - a high-intensity interval training programme that combines strength and conditioning.
Typically, it incorporates a variety of intense bodyweight exercises alongside strength training using free weights, such as barbells or kettlebells. The gruelling workout usually kicks off with the coach setting out all the exercises the class will tackle that day, followed by a warm-up and a skill practice session, during which participants are taught the correct techniques needed to complete the day's training.
This is then followed by the workout itself and a cool down, according to CrossFit's official website. Sport is very much a way of life for Kate, who is also said to be a keen yoga enthusiast, cyclist and committed to a daily run - not to mention trampolining sessions with her children.
During her time studying at the University of St Andrews, she also participated in both the hockey and tennis societies. Since stepping into her role as a senior royal, Kate's love of sport has been evident through the patronages she has taken on.
In early 2022, she assumed the role of patron of both the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League - positions previously held by Prince Harry before he stepped away from life as a working royal in 2020. Kate also serves as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, making her a familiar face in the royal box at the annual Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
This is a role she inherited from the late Queen Elizabeth back in 2016.
