BBC star Iain Robertson 'raped woman on holiday after silly game', court told Former River City star Iain Robertson, 45, is accused of raping a woman during a holiday in the Lake District, as well as assaulting others 'on various occasions' River City actor Iain Robertson allegedly raped a woman during a holiday in the Lake District after a "silly game," a court has heard. The 45-year-old is accused of physically assaulting the woman "on various occasions" and behaving in a "disorderly manner" towards her. He is further charged with raping another woman "on various occasions" between 2018 and 2019, as well as offences involving two other women. Robertson denies a total of eight charges across a 16-year period - from 2004 to 2020. One of the women had been holidaying in the Lake District with friends when Robertson reacted badly to her playing a "silly" game with them in a sitting room, she told the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday. Giving evidence, the 48-year-old said the game had involved suggesting film names with one word replaced with a rude word. She said: "I was sitting with the door on my left hand side and I saw him appear in the corridor, and standing there looking disgusted and angry. He made a motion, mouthed at me to get out." She said they then went to the bedroom, telling the court: "I was just exhausted and a bit flummoxed by the whole thing, and he was still angry." She previously told the court Robertson was "controlling" and always started arguments when she met up with friends or colleagues. The woman said some time afterwards they went to bed, where she said he raped her. The alleged rape does not form part of the charges against Robertson due to it having allegedly taken place outside Scotland. Describing the alleged incident, the woman said: "He started kissing me and trying to initiate sex. I said 'no' and I was very upset, I just wanted to get to sleep because of what had happened previously." She added she had said no "at least once", and said "stop" as well. Asked by prosecutor John Keenan KC how he had reacted to her saying no, the woman replied: "He just ignored me and carried on kissing and trying to have sex," she said. She said that after removing her pyjama bottoms, "he would have been on top of me, pulling my arms down with his hands". She added: "I remember not wanting it and I remember saying I don't want it." Asked how the alleged assault made her feel, she said: "Upset and angry and confused, just exhausted by the whole thing." She added: "This has stuck with me internally and emotionally since that time." The woman was also asked about an incident in which she said Robertson became violent, punching a fridge and denting it, before "chasing" her around his Glasgow home. She said during the alleged incident he had been "very angry, rampaging round the house", and that for her own safety she had left the house and locked the door behind her. "I didn't want him coming out to me because of the state he was in and the noise he was making," she said. Robertson's lawyer Gary Allan KC asked her if she thought "imprisoning" him in his home had been "ok". She replied: "I needed to look after my safety at that point." He disputed that Robertson had acted in a "disorderly" manner, as well as her account of the alleged rape. Mr Allan put it to her that there had been sex but she had been the one to initiate it, as she had wanted to "get close to him in some way" following the argument. He suggested: "You were at the very least consenting to the intercourse, you actually initiated it. You removed your clothing and sat astride him, and in that position penetration took place." She rejected this, saying she was "clear" about what had happened. Mr Allan also put it to her that "not once did you say 'no' or 'stop'". She again rejected this. The trial, before Lady Drummond, continues.
