Man and boy charged with attempted murder after women struck by vehicle Corey Charters, 20, and a 17-year-old boy have been charged with attempted murder after a collision in Blyth, Northumberland, left a woman fighting for her life A man and a teenage boy have been charged with attempted murder after a woman was left fighting for her life in a Northumberland town. Two women in their 30s were struck by a vehicle on Keelmans Terrace in Blyth at around 1.25am on Friday. One of the women sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where she remains in a life-threatening condition. The other suffered minor injuries. On Wednesday afternoon, Corey Charters, 20, and a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident, which took place near the junction with Beaumont Street. Following the incident, the vehicle fled the scene and was later found burnt out in the High Pitt area of Cramlington, police said. Officers arrested three people as they conducted enquiries. While Charters and the 17-year-old boy have since been charged, a 21-year-old man who was also arrested has been released on bail, Chronicle Live reports. Alongside the attempted murder charge, Charters, of no fixed abode, is charged with driving without a valid licence and driving without insurance. Both he and the teenage boy are due to appear before North Tyneside Magistrates' Court in North Shields on Thursday morning. Northumbria Police is continuing to appeal for information, including doorbell, CCTV or dashcam footage, that could assist the ongoing investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Jason Henry, of the force's Major Investigation Team (MIT), said: "The charges brought against these two individuals are a big step forward in our investigation, but that does not mean the enquiry is finished." He added: "We remain interested in the movements of a dark-coloured 2007 registered Honda (SUV) car which is believed to have been in and around the area between 1am and 1.30am in the early hours of Friday. "From our enquiries, it is understood that the victims of the collision on Keelmans Terrace were involved in an earlier altercation on or near Stephen Street between 1.15am and 1.20am with the occupants of the same vehicle, although no one was reported to have been injured. "Later that same day (Friday, June 12), just after 3pm, this vehicle was found burnt out in the area of High Pitt, Cramlington. As always, we'd encourage those in the community and online not to speculate around the circumstances of the report - especially now charges are live. It's imperative we respect the upcoming legal process." Anyone with information or footage is asked to visit Northumbria Police's dedicated public portal. Members of the public can also contact the force by sending a direct message on social media or calling 101, quoting reference number NP-20260612-0056.
