World Cup LIVE: Tartan Army gears up for Scotland vs Morocco as fans party in street The Tartan Army's high spirits have not been knocked after more than a week of partying in Boston, even as a potentially difficult match against Morocco looms this evening Hello and welcome to the Mirror's live coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Friday, June 19th. Today we'll see four more games following an exciting day at the tournament on Thursday, where Mexico broke through the group stages and Canada scored an historic victory against Qatar. Mexico enjoyed another home ground win yesterday, taking South Korea 1-0 in the team's second home win of the games so far, and cruising to the Round of 32 despite being booed by their own fans. Canada, on the other hand, made its fans ecastatic with a thumping win against Qatar, equalling a margin of home victory record established way back in 1978. The game was however marred by a serious injury to Ismael Kone during the match. The midfielder appeared to break his leg and his World Cup appears to be over. Elsewhere, Ghana won 1-0 against Panama, Colombia won 3-1 against Uzbekistan, and Czechia drew with South Africa 1-1. Brazil fans are embracing the 'Rocky Curse' in Philadelphia ahead of their World Cup clash with Haiti.Unsurprisingly, those in the city have made their way to the Philadelphia Museum of Art to see the famous statue of the fictional boxer at the top of the steps. But crucially, this time, Brazil supporters are refusing to put any Selecao shirts, hats or scarves on the statue - in fear that Carlo Ancelotti's side will be jinxed.In Philly, legend holds that whenever opposition fans dress the Rocky statue in their colours, their team loses or suffers a knockout blow. Ecuador fans, here for their World Cup opener against Ivory Coast, found that out the hard way.They dressed Rocky in La Tri yellow - then lost 1-0 courtesy of Manchester United starlet Amad's 90th-minute winner at Lincoln Financial Field. Brazil fans took note, and on Thursday, four supporters actually dressed up as bodyguards to prevent fellow fans from touching Rocky.Brazilians have also been spreading the news on Instagram, so compatriots in Philadelphia resist all temptation to curse their national team following their 1-1 draw with Morocco in New Jersey. England fans were left terrified when their World Cup plane was hit by severe turbulence which left one fan and two flight attendants on the floor. After eventually landing safely members of crew said: “That was the worst we’ve experienced for years.” The American Airlines flight was heading from Dallas, England’s first World Cup venue, to Boston, where the Three Lions play Ghana on Tuesday, when it ran into horrendous weather. Over 50 England supporters were onboard AA Flight 1577. The plane lurched wildly after being hit by sudden turbulence an hour before landing in Boston. One crew member said: “I’ve experienced that once or twice in my career when a plane is out over the oceans but never anything that bad over mainland United States.” England fan James Matthews, 39, from Lincoln said: “It was very, very frightening. The plane lurched violently to the left and then shuddered. It shook for quite a while before settling down. The crew were fantastic and the passengers sat in silence. “Eventually people started looking back to check that their friends in different rows were ok.”Another said: “I was preparing to meet my maker. It was terrifying.” At least two members of the crew and a supporter were knocked over and had to pick themselves up from the floor of the plane. The flight landed 30 minutes late after being diverted away from the weather. After reporting the turbulence the pilot was given a different route into Boston’s Logan Airport heading further north and then coming in from the West. He landed safely and passengers disembarked. No-one was injured in the incident. Scotland fans partying in Boston has been one of the highlights of this World Cup so far - and they're already getting in the mood ahead of their second group game against Morocco tonight. FIFA will have had to have been operating on the moon not to realise that, in Houston in June, it's scorching hot. But it appears organisers in the Texan city still have to scramble around reacting to the weather, and how it is affecting those thousands of fans who visit the Fan Zone. Extra water has had to be shipped in, and countless safety warnings have been issued to visitors, due to temperatures soaring above 90F. Who'd have thought it? And now organisers have been forced to commission thousands of special 'cooling towels' to dish out to supporters flocking to the downtown site. Praising FIFA feels like something which has become extinct. But one individual working at the Houston Stadium deserves the freedom of the city, following his actions in the wake of Portugal's shock draw with DR Congo. The official in question stepped in when Cristiano Ronaldo attempted to escape through the stadium's back doors. And made him walk through the media 'Mixed Zone', which is what players are ordered to do following matches. Ronaldo looked suitably put out. And who can blame him, because making the walk of shame past the world's media following a performance like the one he put in, was the last thing Ronaldo wanted. But this bloke in a blazer didn't care less. He was just doing his job - and is now a social media sensation as a result. Looking for a little more info about today's fixtures? Canada star Ismael Kone is set to undergo surgery following his horrific injury suffered against Qatar. The midfielder has fractured his fibula and tibia, per reports. Kone was stretchered from the field after being fouled by Assim Madibo, who was sent off for his challenge. The Canada star was visibly in pain as soon as he hit the ground, while Madibo put his head in his hands. Tensions boiled over between players and on the sidelines as Kone received treatment. Concern filled the stadium, but the 24-year-old was able to wave to the crowd as he was stretchered away. Following the match, Jesse Marsch confirmed that Kone was at the hospital, accompanied by his mother, Suzanne, and preparing for surgery. An England fan who has not missed a single home qualifier or friendly in 17 years - and has not skipped an away qualifier or friendly in 12 years - has shared an honest verdict on World Cup 2026. Ian Odgers, who has inked his body with passport stamps from away matches, has flown off to the United States after an injury nearly derailed his World Cup ambitions. Thursday's stunning fixture was noteworthy enough on its own, with Canada's 6-0 win already proving a highlight that fans won't be soon forgetting. The incredible display was followed by another unlikely sight, however, as a fight broke out on the pitch between players after what appeared to be a tense exchange between Canada manager Jesse Marsch and Qatar's Julen Lopetegui. Following Canada's historic 6-0 win against Qatar on Thursday, the World Cup has yet another hat trick hero in Jonathan David. During the match, which saw Canada equal a record margin of victory for a tournament host for the first time since 1978, David emerged as the team's MVP. He becomes the second player to score a hat trick this year, alongside Lionel Messi who did the same during Argentina's match against Algeria. Some football fans might be slightly confused to see the Tartan Army's stateside duck companion this morning, but it isn't the first to appear at the competition. Another video shows that Mexico too has its own duck, which was seen wddling alongside fans in its own special kit. Adorable new footage has captured the Tartan Army's newest member, a duck, who was seen marching with Scotland supporters in Providence, Ohio earlier. Another four fixtures have been scheduled for June 19, with both the US and Scotland returning to the pitch. Neymar picked up a calf injury playing for Santos ahead of the tournament and sat out of the first game. While he's back in training, Brazil are taking no risks.Endrick or Matheus Cunha could come in and start instead of Brentford's Igor Thiago, who was scrutinised for his display vs Morocco. A spokesperson said: "Despite having submitted its preparation schedule for the tournament well in advance. Iran's national football team has once again encountered restrictions imposed by the organisers, affecting the implementation of its technical staff's plans."Given that the game will be played at noon in Los Angeles, the Football Federation of Iran requested that the team be allowed to travel to Los Angeles two days before the match."The aim was to provide sufficient time for players to adapt to the match conditions, complete their final training session, and finalize preparations."Despite the technical reasons presented by the federation, the request was once again denied." While some of England's squad prevailed in a friendly, those who started against Croatia did some recovery work. It's easy to see why Canada boss Jesse Marsch would be frustrated with the anger from Qatar's bench, after Ismael Kone was brutally injured. "I don't understand a reaction from their entire bench to try to start a fight about it being a red card when a clear foul just happened that broke a player's leg." Go figure. While the day is ending in North America, things are just getting started in Europe, so what do we have to look forward to today? United States vs Australia, Scotland vs Morocco, Brazil vs Haiti and Turkey vs Paraguay. Though the latter doesn't kick off for about 24 hours...
