Harry Kane reveals classy way David Beckham responded to star equalling England cap record England captain Harry Kane matched two all-time Three Lions' records in Wednesday's 4-2 win against Croatia in Dallas and has already been in touch with David Beckham Harry Kane revealed David Beckham was the first to congratulate him on a piece of England history. England captain Kane equalled Beckham’s record of 115 caps with his appearance against Croatia to go joint third in the all-time list behind Peter Shilton and Wayne Rooney. Kane also levelled with Gary Lineker ’s record of ten goals in World Cups and the Bayern Munich superstar can now beat both landmarks in this tournament. England striker Kane admitted it was “mind-blowing” that he has gone from idolising Beckham to then receiving messages from the Three Lions legend. Kane told the FA’s Lions’ Den show: “I am extremely proud to be in amongst those names. David Beckham was my idol growing up, he was any hero, was from the same area, Chingford, went to the same school so he was just my idol. “Now to have the same number of caps as him is pretty mind-blowing to be honest and I don’t take a lot of this stuff in, I just get on to the next thing and it’s something, for sure, that I will take in when I stop and look back on. “David sent me a nice voice note yesterday before the game and then after the game, congratulating me on getting to 115 and he said he knows how hard it is be that consistent and get that many caps so it was really nice of him and he was wishing all the boys the best as well. “Whenever I’ve met or spoke to him, he’s been so good. You can tell that he’s such a fan of the team, he wants us to do really well and so every interaction I’ve had with him has been amazing. “It is a bit of a full circle moment because he’s watching us as a fan and I’m sure we’ll be the same in 20 years or so. What a great role model for all of us. “Then with the goals, matching Gary, everyone knows how good a striker he was especially in World Cups, so to get to the ten goals is obviously really pleasing and again the next game is just a few days away and I’m feeling good, feeling ready so I just can’t wait to get going again."
