Princess Eugenie paid a gushing Father’s Day tribute to her husband - but failed to mention her own dad, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Like many marking Father’s Day, Eugenie, who is pregnant with her third child, took to Instagram to post a series of never-before-seen photos of husband Jack Brooksbank with their two sons, August, five, and three-year-old Ernest. Eugenie posted one snap, which shows 40-year-old Jack walking down the street hand-in-hand with his two boys.
Another showed him sitting on the ground in between pews in a church in what appears to be a wedding, trying to keep one of their sons entertained with little toys and football stickers.
Paying tribute, Eugenie wrote alongside the pictures: “Happy Father’s Day to the best there is.. chief child entertainer for besties' wedding too. The boys couldn’t ask for a better Dada.”
But despite heaping praise on her husband, the princess did not mention her own dad, disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office in February and was stripped of all of his royal titles in October.
The 35-year-old has not been publicly seen with her father since the Epstein files revealed the full extent of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s association with billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Eugenie announced last May that she is expecting her third child. Her pregnancy was announced by Buckingham Palace and it was said that her uncle, the King, was ‘delighted’ with the news.
The baby, who will not be an HRH, will be born 15th in line to the throne, with their great uncle, Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, moving down to 16th place. He or she will also be the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and the third to be born since her death in 2022.
The new arrival will be the fifth grandchild of the former Duke and Duchess of York, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, after the birth of Princess Beatrice’s daughter, Athena Mapelli Mozzi in January last year.
Meanwhile, Eugenie wasn’t the only royal to mark Father’s Day on social media. On the official Royal Family account, a picture was shared of the King with his late father, Prince Philip, with their pair both dressed in military uniform. A message read: “Celebrating all Fathers, and thinking of those who wish they could be with their Dads, today.”
A new photo was also shared of Prince William, who also turned 44 yesterday, showing him with his daughter, Princess Charlotte. The caption read: “Happy birthday and Father’s Day to the best Papa in the World! We love you very much. C, G, C & L .”
And Meghan Markle also paid tribute to Prince Harry, sharing a photo of him hugging their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with the message: “They’re so lucky to have you. We all are. Happy Father’s Day to our one and only.”
In the photo, seven-year-old Archie is wearing a red and white England top with dark blue shorts, while his sister, five, has a soft toy giraffe. Sharing the image to her stories as well, Meghan wrote “Happy Father’s Day” with a white heart. The post comes ahead of England’s next World Cup match on Tuesday against Ghana.
