EXCLUSIVE: A woman felt unnerved after realising a parcel was delivered to a room inside her home despite her not being in and nobody else having a key to her property
A woman was petrified after finding a parcel was delivered into her home, despite all of her doors being locked and nobody being home. The woman came back to her Leeds home on Monday, June 22, and found a parcel sat on an armchair in her living room.
She described how she'd been out for the day and immediately began to panic, thinking she had left one of her doors open. After checking the back door and finding it was locked, she began to get even more concerned, wondering how a parcel was delivered inside her home - despite nobody being in.
The woman checked her security camera footage, which is located above her front door, which showed a man wearing a Royal Mail hi-visibility vest approaching her property with what appeared to be the same parcel that was placed inside her home.
The man appeared to check if the front door was unlocked, before knocking and waiting for somebody to answer.
The next clip from the security camera showed the same man walking away from the right side of the home before disappearing off camera.
Home security footage shows moment package was allegedly delivered
The woman said: "I honestly have no explanation. No one else has keys to my house. I was not in the house. I left the house in the morning. I've come back, there's a package in my house. But then why would someone come into my house?
"There is no obvious way of entry into my house. This is the most unnerved I've been, ever. Like, full stop. I don't like not understanding... how has someone come into my house?"
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We are aware of the video, but would need the opportunity to investigate before drawing any conclusions about what happened. We would encourage the customer to get in touch and provide the relevant details so we can look into this properly.”
After coming to the conclusion that the only way the package could have been delivered was through her front window, which was on a latch while she was out, she tested if it could be opened with a kitchen knife.
Woman's warning to homeowners as window lock vulnerability exposed
After less than 30 seconds, the woman was able to lift the latch and open the window from outside her home before re-latching it.
She said: "I am not feeling well, that makes me feel so unsafe. On another note though, just because you can [deliver parcels that way] doesn't mean you should. I know he's been really lovely in terms of he's delivered my package safely.
"The bright side is I've got my package and now I've learned that that can be done. I wouldn't have learned that could have been done if he didn't do that.
"Your latches aren't as safe as you might have thought, do not leave your house with your windows unlatched because people can break in.
"I'm incredibly unnerved... It's just there's something about someone coming into your personal space. It's not a nice feeling."
